How to maintain VN licensed in California

Published

Hi, I'm working for the Hospice agency company here in Ca as part-time/PRN worker. It's my only job as an LVN at the moment. I understand that you need to have accumulate 30hrs of CEUs (within 2 years) as an active and employed VN. My company does not offered CEUs credits. Since  im a part timer VN that works only somewhere 4-6 days a month, I was wondering if the Ca states requires you to work with company (SNF comparable) that offers CEUs in order to keep your license valid which will be eligible for renewal. How do you maintain your VN licensed active as PRN nurse for years?

Go online and do an internet search for "CA nursing CEU" and you will find some entries for companies that offer CEUs.  Some are more reasonable in price than others so look at a few of them.  A nurse employed PRN in CA maintains their license the same as anyone else.  Obtain you 30 CEUs within two years and then pay the fee and submit the form for renewal when you get it.  It you don't get a renewal form in the mail, go to the BVNPT website, look your license up, and take the steps to renew online.  Not difficult at all.

You can find free ways online to keep your CEUs up to date for renewals. You can also pay about 30$ a year and get unlimited access to CEUs via www.CEUfast.com
