Hello there,

Yes, this is my second year in ADN program. After picking up 15 transission students, our class now has around 60 students. So far, two have dropped. One had to leave after failing her math test at the begining of the semester. The other left just two day ago after failing the first five test. I think for the most part everyone else is doing just fine. --Tim

So far we have only lost 2 people. Hopefully we won't lose any more.

I know for sure about one but i believe we have lost 4 or 5. We started out with 55. last years class started out will 50 I think and they have 40 students that started the second year.

we are only a couple of weeks into out 5th quarter and so far so good. just yesterday and today were our first exams in pharmacology and pediatric med/surg, respectively. from the list of grades i didn't see any that couldn't be salvaged. i guess i'll find out more as we go along.

We have lost several...a couple just decided they didn't want to be a nurse after all...a few decided to split their classes up so they are only taking pharmacology...a few just left--don't know if they are going to other schools or what. It's a little disheartening, but I figure people before me have made it, so I can make it too.

our class started with 125!!! the most they have ever accepted (and not enough seats in lecture all for everyone. i counted a week ago tuesday and we had already lost 4, but a couple of them never even started classes, but were on the roll sheet. we had our second exam yesterday, and one of the instructors said "it was bad!!" so we may lose more by next week.

We lost 3 in the first 2 weeks alone...before any testing. A number of people have failed tests, but other than the dosage calc test, the classes are cumulative. However, I would say we went from 80 in our class (1st semester) at the begining to 65. We're only 7 weeks into it!

We lost one, but that is because he got arrested for a crime and will probably be in jail for a loooong time. Besides, with his arrest, he has already missed two clinicals. The second one is a contract. If he misses four in one quarter, he is automatically out of the program.

We have lost 6. Five left on their own, one was asked to leave after failing both practicals. The one asked to leave did not study, and had very low scores on the theory as well as not being able to pass even one of the practicals.

This was the same practical I was freaked about earlier too! Now I have the math to do, the medication tests to do... not to mention the on site clinicals. There are so many ways to fail out I can't imagine the entire class (those left) passing.

Where did they go? Next semester the new BSN program starts up and guess what? They will be doing the same clinicals as the ADN's. At the time I started, there was no BSN here at all. Now a satellite university campus is being built on our community campus (in timbucto mind you) offering a few degrees and nursing is one of them. Does that seem unfair? YOU BET. I am really pissed to learn that the BSN's do just what we do on the clinical level. I would have thought they required "more" actual "nursing" but now I know the truth I am livid at those saying a BSN is better. NOT HERE! I truly hope I heard wrong on this, because it just seems WRONG to me. Am I doing BSN work or are they doing ADN work??? So I learned that I should be at UNLV... many of the ADN's here are going to transfer there because of the disparity in courses. Take a few more non nursing courses and earn a BSN!
