How long did you wait to get accepted into a LPN/LVN program?

I'm just wondering if the place you went to get to your LPN/LVN had a waiting list. Is it normal for them to have long waiting lists? I'm considering becoming a LPN first then become an RN because of how long it the waiting lists are for your ADN/BSN.

I got my call/letter about a week after I had all of my app turned in. They have a pretty lengthy waiting list but not too many people do well on the tests, and those are a big part of the entry score in our program.

In 2004 I got admitted to an LPN/LVN program at a trade school with expensive tuition and no waiting lists. In other words, I paid dearly for the convenience of not having to linger on some school's waiting list or deal with lottery-style admission practices.

Congrats to both of you (above) to have 1) passed the entrance exams and 2) not sit around waiting for lotto admit policies.

I have been desperately starting threads on this site to get insight about both of these questions!!! So it's PERFECT for me to as you two, 1) what was the entrance exam (NLN, TEAS, etc.) score requirements (ours is 85 or higher); and 2) paying dearly at a trade school...what's your opinion of the quality of instruction there opposed to vo-tech? 1. I took the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) as an entrance exam. It was easy, 8th grade level material.

2. The instruction served its purpose, because I passed NCLEX on the first time and re-entered the workforce as an LVN. The rest of my learning has been OJT (on the job).

I didn't have to wait long to get into my LPN program. We had to take the entrance exam(TEAS) in April and we found out in May. At the school that I attend there is no waiting list. Either you get in this year or not. If you don't get in you will have to wait until the next year to apply again. Every school is different though.

At our vocational colleges, you first have to pass the typical '8th grade entrance exam' Asset/Compass/Act. That's a no-brainer. THEN, you have to pass either the TEAS or the NLN to get into the PN programs. I'm going to make the assumption that the NLN is similar to the TEAS, since no one out there seems to have taken the NLN (which is NLN-PAX) and is pre-NCLEX. Then, I have to 'hope' that my score is high enough to surpass the other applicants. I don't like the idea of lottos or wait lists, but we'll see. Thx for responding! NVR2late

At Kaplan - we took a critical thinking test - out of 20 people only 2 of us passed. Then you take the HESI (which is a suppose to be easier than the TEAS and I agree) it was like a high school level test....

Then we did admin and financial aid - I scored high on my tests - Got a 100% in math and over 90 in the other 2 areas tested. Since I also had CNA certification and health care experience with hospice- as well as our community colleges LPN medical terminology class, lpn math class, english 101, psyc 101 and sociology 101 - with a 3.73 GPA they told me that students like me were in high demand and was accepted immediately- verbally. Got the official welcome not long afterwards.

I took medical terminology and anatomy/physiology's classes at my community college as well, got my PCT, got my CNA, already have experience as an MA and cardiovascular tech. BUT my math is what concerns me on these tests. The rest of the classes you mention are on my curriculum for September. Will the Math 1012 help me on the next test ("LPN" math was similar?) What's your opinion of Kaplan now?

i waited 2 weeks after doing the net (nurse entrance test), and sending in my application. we were told that they went by the highest scores and those who have college credits in algebra 2, english 101, and psychology 101. our school is ran by the state so they don't do waiting lists. my schooling costs $5050.00 and that is with books, uniform, and lab supplies included and my pell grant covered everything.

Yea it will. The first 2 chapters you go over will definitly help you pass the Kaplan entrance exam! I was also TERRIBLE at math. I think for those of us that have poor math - taking an extra math class will HELP- big time!
