How long till hospitals provide tuition assistance??

Published

Hi all,

How long you have to work at most hospitals in the area to get tuition assistance?? Does anybody work in Fredericksburg or Richmond Virginia and know about tuition assistance programs where they work?

I am graduating in May and I don't think I'll get hired at MCV/VCU if the hiring freeze will still be in place.

Just trying to find out some other places to look for work since I don't know when the hiring freeze will end!! I'm just a little frazzled since MCV was my place of choice to work and I'm planning to start my RN-BSN in the fall...

Thank you for your help.:)

I'm not in VA but at my work you are eligible immediately, and must work there for 12 months after they give you money, or you must repay.

The hospital I work at provides tuition assistance/ reimbursement pretty much right away. You submit grades when the semester ends and then you get the money in your check. There is an agreement to work there for a certain amount of time though. Hope that helps!

Where I work you have to be there at least 6 months before they start repaying your tuition. They too send a check once the semester is over and you turn in your bills and transcript to them.

Lately, with the recession etc., some hospitals are not offering such perks - check with HR.
