How Long?

Just curious, how long did it take you to find your first nursing job after graduating and passing the NCLEX licensure exam?

Thanks, but i was just looking at how things have changed over the years when nurses were in dire need and were hired asap, but now jobs are simply scarce for the most part

YOu're welcome......I graduated when I was young. I had my first job 6 months before graduation offered to me during clinical. They had graduate nurse status then because it took so long to get our results back. So technically we had all summer for orientation and were off orientation when we got our results. I took my boards in June 79 and got them back that end of september 79.

I lucked out in the current market too. Graduated in May 2011, passed NCLEX in June, and had a job in July.

I graduated 04/08, started in an Interim Permit 05/08, passed NCLEX 06/08

Graduated August 2011 from an ABSN program with 2 job offers before Sept. Took NCLEX Oct 4.

Graduated in May 2006. Took the boards at the end of May. I interviewed and got the job June 11th, started my first day July 26th.

Graduated end of May 2008, started first job beginning of November 2008, so 5 months after graduation.
