How long/often did you study?

I graduated a few weeks ago and still waiting for my ATT number to take the NCLEX-PN. I am wondering if I am doing enough to prepare. I am wondering if I have enough time to study for the NCLEX.

I usually study M--F...2.5-3.5 hours per day (depending) and then on the weekends around 2 hours per day. I will do flashcards mostly on the weekends. The last few days I have been lagging due to helping a friend move and I am taking a one week vacation this Monday, but I have been reviewing these last few days just to not forget things.

I am using ATI books that we got from our program, Saunders, Lippincott"s and Exam Cram Questions Only book(just got this yesterday). When I get back next Saturday, I plan on going back to my normal studying schedule. We took a predictor test and even though my predictor was 96%, that's not a guarantee in my eyes. Anything can happen...right?

I plan on taking the test as soon as I get the number, but if I get it tomorrow will I be ready. Should I wait and take it after a few more weeks etc? Is this enough or should I study more per day? How long did others study too. Weeks, days, months? I am freaking out.

Don't over think it! It sounds like you're doing a good job of diligently studying! I studied for about a total of 6 weeks. The first 3 weeks were halfassed studying about 2 hours every other day. the last 3 weeks were studying 5-6 days out of the week 4-5 hours a day. In the beginning it was reviewing topics, but if i could do it over again, i would have spent a month just going over questions. good luck!

I agree with@bagelbites the exam was over general competencies. I say know how to prioritize patients, infection control and know your lab values and you should do fine. Think ABC' s Maslows know RACE and the elimination process should get you to the right answer
