How long did Excelsior take you start to finish?

Just curious how long it took everyone to complete the program. I have started my first general ed class and want to get an estimate of when I should finish. Thanks!!!

I have a few questions for west1014. CONGRATS on your new degree! I am hot on your heals I enrolled Early May and I am testing quickly, Just a few quick quesitions about how far apart you spaced your exams. Mine are 2-3 weeks apart and By sept I should be eligible for fcaa. How much time did you put into your theory study's? Where did you do your CPNE, I live in the south too but all my friends are going to up north and having difficulty passing? Any info would be appreciated.

Two prerequisites and whole Excelsior program + CPNE was 10 months (waited 2 months for the CPNE date, so 8 months of courses total). Worked full time as LPN. No kids. Kinda went balls to the wall.

LMBO @ anti! "balls to the wall" cracks me up!!! I'm hoping when i quit next month that i can do the same...hopefully take a test every 3-4wks (as i DO have kiddos)

StrawberryBanana - the first ebay Cd you mentioned is Medstrong - their CD contains all the FREE files from the Yahoo groups and the material is pretty old - I wouldn't recommend Medsstrong because you don't need to pay for something that you can get free. studygroup101 is much better, more organized and up to date, and I highly recommend them. I took six exams in just over two months. I started on May 6, 2010 and finished on July 8, 2010. It can be done, believe me. I just wanted to be done with these so I could tackle studying for the CPNE without worrying about these exams. I only used the practice tests, studygroup 101 CD's, and an NCLEX book. Towards the end I only used the practice tests and the NCLEX book. I got B's on all of them except one where I got a C. I am convinced that people over study for these tests and get bogged down in all the information. The practice tests should be your guide. Good luck....I'm waiting for my FCCA and approval to apply for CPNE.

I totally agree with the practice tests and people overstudying for the exams (except for the CPNE, I think that once cannot be over studied for!). I did a practice test for each exam and found that many of the questions were the same or similar to the real exam, or at least pointed to the exact topics to be covered on the exam rather than a broad litany of study topics as "required" in the reading. To me they were worth 3 X as much as they charge for them, especially considering you get two! I would take the first one (A) at the beginning of studying a course to find out the areas I actually neded to focus on, then study, then 3-4 weeks later take the second one (B) to see if I was still deficient in any areas and hw ready I was for the real exam. I always scored HIGHER on the real exam than the practice tests. They're invaluable!

I am almost complete with my exams first exam taken on 6/7. I have ls2 this saturday, ls3 next saturday and transition on 8/7. I am in Baton rouge, la if there is any one close who wants to study for CPNE together.

You started in June and are that far along already? That's great! Congratulations! What do you use to study with? How much do you study a day or each week?

I plan on starting in earnest in a couple of days. August 1st will be my official start date. I plan to buckle down and really push through. I would love to keep up a good pace like you have.

Mrstookie...I completed all my theory exams in 08/10. I completed my fcca in november. and took my cpne in february. I totally paniced at cpne test time, and retest in july. the program is very doable, the big one is the test at the end and if you manage your nerves you should do fine as far as the other exams they were manageable and seemed to reinforce the existing knowledge i have from lpn school.
