I need to take the Microbiology Exam ASAP
I only printed out the text - one or two chapters at a time to take with me - I viewed the pictures and charts on my computer - saves alot of ink and time!

Lisa Arend's study guides fro EC
I have both, but I thought SG101 was much better and the material is more recent.

Question about Excelsior and Studying for Exams
I thought Studygroup101 was worth every penny! I don't know what I'd have done without them - I probably saved a fortune on textbooks by using their study guides & notes, but to each his own.... IMHO C

someone help?!
The study guides are all in Adobe -so if you have adobe on your Mac, they should work - and the quizzes are a must! Are you sure you emailed them - because they always reply to me within a couple hours (usually within minutes). Try [email protected].

Lisa Ahrens notes Vs. Studygroup101
I recommend studygroup101. The last 2 or 3 that I got had few or no typos that I noticed, so maybe they fixed those, anyway - they are way easier to navigate and are more up to date.

I'm 'assuming' that BioChem is another name for Microbiology? Am I correct?

Textbooks Or A Learning System?
Rue does not grant credit - only EC does. If you went through Rue, you paid them AND EC - you could have just went straight through EC and saved. There are plenty of forums on Yahoo groups and here of course where you can sound off or ask questions and you can always call your EC advisor. You don't have to buy your books through the EC bookstore, you can pick them up cheaply at ebay, half.com, alibris, superbookdeals, amazon or a million other places - that will save you bunches of money. I used studygroup101 for all of my exams, I just took transition and never cracked a book - lots of memorization! I highly recommend them. I also recommend doing all the psych type exams close together (Gero, Life Span or Human Growth, Psych, Soc and part of LS2) they cover alot of the same material. And the EC practice exams - don't forget those - it seems if you score a 70 or so, you will almost certainly pass the exam. C

How long did Excelsior take you start to finish?
StrawberryBanana - the first ebay Cd you mentioned is Medstrong - their CD contains all the FREE files from the Yahoo groups and the material is pretty old - I wouldn't recommend Medsstrong because you don't need to pay for something that you can get free. studygroup101 is much better, more organized and up to date, and I highly recommend them. STUDY GROUP 101

StudyGroup101 Materials
I'm using StudyGroup101 for my GenEds - Religions, Life Span Psych, Anatomy and Micro - I'm working on Gerontology and ethics now. Their guides are very comprehensive and they include lots of practice questions and some really good web links. I think they are WAY more organized and easier to read then Lisa Arends...totally printable and NO PASSWORDS and about 5 years newer!! My sister used the Nursing study guides and passed all of them almost without opening a book. Studygroup101 is so worth the $10 bucks! Claire

Lisa Arends study guides
I DO think her comment was meant to offend. This woman is a bear, God forbid you should offer "constructive criticism" she'll bite your head off. In her opinion - she makes NO errors, is perfect and is the ONLY one who will ever pass the exams with honors. I, personally, will never give her the time of day. If you have a problem with her material, she does her best to make you feel like an idiot. She insists on a full name & address so she can google each person - and check to see what license you hold. Kind of nosy if you ask me. Not to mention, all her material is from 4-5 years ago and 80% of it can be downloaded for free from the Yahoo groups. - That's my experience and opinion.
