hi there...the lenght of time you need to process your papers to be able to sit for the nclex exam varies for every state...if your planning to apply in the state of california, it would usually take 6-8 months before you can receive a confirmation from the nursing state board....
how about if i will choose new york?how long will it take?

If you'll take New York, your documents will have to pass through CGFNS for verifications then they'll forward it to NY BON.. then you'll wait again for 4-6 months before getting your ATT. I know someone who applied for NY NCLEX and still havn't received his ATT after a year already. I'm also confused which state to choose! I guess it's the most difficult decision to make. Well, good luck to both of us!

I filed my application to the California BON February 28, 2006 by registered mail and they received my application March 13th as documented by a self-adressed stamped envelope.
I received my eligibility last July 12,2006..So i will be registering with pearson anytime now.

The thread that stated to go the New York route is more than 16 months old, and is no longer sa sticky and has been closed. That is no longer valid information. If you are going to work in NY, then go that route, if you are not going to work there, then do not go that route.
There are other states that offer the hard license without the SSN#.
If you go the NY route, you are talking about taking the exam next spring.
And this thread has been moved to the International Forum, as it is not specific to Filipinos.

And you will also be waiting one month to get your results, you will not see your name on the BRN website until you give them a SSN#.
If you end up moving at the last moment, you will have issues trying to endorse as you will not have an actual license issued to you.
Never recommend CA for initial licensure.
how about if i choose vermont?

processing time for VT is between 1 to 3 months. the requirements and forms can be found in http://www.vtprofessionals.org/opr1/nurses/
ssn is not a mandatory requirement for issuance of license. license is issued in one month after passing nclex. 2 or 3 (??) unsuccessful attempts in nclex for VT will result to a remedial program requirement (verify this with the state BON).
when you endorse VT license to CA, you need to comply with CA's requirements on licensure by endorsement. the link is:
http://www.rn.ca.gov/lic/lic-end.htm
check out the other thread here on VT licensure questions, for more info.

how about Maryland? I already filed CES and they received all necessary documents for review on June 15,2006. I already took the IELTS exam and awaiting results in 8 days. If all requirements are fulfilled promptly and granting the CES is already issued, how long before I am given eligibility to take thE Maryland NCLEX? And, how long does the CES usually take?
