How do I transfer my license?

You go to the board of nursing for the state you are going to and look for information on how to get a license by endorsement - fill out the papers and send in the required documents (some states require fingerprinting, every state is different)

I have also been told to not let your license lapse in the state you were originally licensed in in order to facilitate getting getting other licenses.

My fiance just got a job in Golden and now I am looking for jobs in the Denver area. I figure the first thing I should do is transfer my license, but honestly I'm not sure where to start! Do I just go to the Colorado Board of Nursing or do I need to do something through my home state of Missouri? About how long should it take before I get my license and can practice?

I have just done this myself. My family and I are moving to Colorado Springs. You must keep your license in Missouri in order to keep any other license. You will have to go to the state board of nursing for Colorado to print out the forms to fill out, send in the required document and $38 for the 2 year license. There is also another $30 fee for them to verify that you past the NCLEX with the required scores for the state of Colorado. Make sure that you answer every question on the paper work. I missed two and they mailed me a letter and it held my licence up for a while. After they get all the information make sure you keep in touch with them so that you know that they are working on your license. They had my info and it was sitting on a desk and I was due in the area for interviews. If I wouldn't have called them I might not have my license yet.

Thanks for that. I am getting ready to move to Colorado next year and was wondering the same thing. Boy with all the people moving there I hope I can still find a job? HeHeHe!
