How I study for the TEAS-V

Published

My wife is a LPN. She works nights. I am unemployed. So I decided to go to school and get my LPN(I had thought about getting into nursing after I worked in a hospital ER). She works 20 miles away from home so I decide I would drive to work and got to the local iHop and stay up and study. I take my test on the 27. I have been studying using the Study manual for the TEAS-V by ATI. I am not the greatest @ studying but doing better. The local school I am trying to get into only uses Math, Reading, And English from the TEAS-V and COMPASS. Any internet sites that might be better for those section. I did a a practice test in the book on Math (19/30) and English (18/30). I have room for lots of improvement. Just wanted to start this topic I guess to start my journey. Thanks for reading. Tips are greatly appreciated. Anyone from Northeast Arkansas on here?

If you search TEAS up there in the search bar, there is an exhaustive amount of material located in various parts of all nurses.

I used the ATI study manual and the Mcgraw Hill 5 nursing entrance exams. I took the practice test then reinforced what I was bad at! Simple as that, no magic unfortunately!

Thank you very much.

Just doing a search on Math, Reading, and English might be too broad. Since you have already done a practice test, why not analyze your test results and figure out which type of questions you need help on most? For example, I needed more help on identifying compound/complex sentence. I just Google it and found a number of tutorial and practice exercises.

After that, you take more practice tests and see whether there is improvement. Always analyze what you got right and wrong on the practice tests.

Try www.Test-Guide.com , they have practice tests for free, and you can take it multiple times. They pull questions that are very similar to the actual test questions. Good luck and keep us posted.

I recently took the TEAS, and I found that list to be fairly accurate as far as what was on the actual test.

I purchased the online practice exams from ATI, and while they are expensive, they are definitely worth it.
