How Hard is It really to get into CSN?

Published

I was considering paying the 43,000 to get into Apollo College. I heard thru some of my friends that it is almost impossible to get in. Is that true. Would you pay 43,000 to get into Apollo.

This is great for you since you got in. I real happy for you and your friend. Unfortuantely for all the other people such as myself this sucks! So even though I have the points, I'm on the lottery system now against hundreds of people. Great :(

My friend and I both got in on the lottery for this Fall. She got in the full time program and I got in the part time. After we got rejection letters we were thrilled to be chosen from a lottery. Both of us finished all our pre-reqs with a good GPA and it was our first try. So I think it isn't that difficult if you really put in a lot of effort.

Hey familyguy! Did you apply to CSN already? Hey just to let you know, the lottery is not against hundreds of people, that's not how it works. To get accepted into the CSN ADN program, it goes by a point system that depends on things like your GPA, health experience, your NLN Pre-RN results etc...(you can find out the how the points are dispursed at http://sites.ccsn.edu/health/adnspringselection.pdf ) They will then fill the spots starting with the student/s with the highest points who applied. Say if they fill all the spots until 22 points (for example) and then there are 10 spots left but there are 20 students with 21 points, they will implement a lottery system...so you will only compete against 20 students who all have the same qualifying points as you and you have a 50/50 chance of getting into the program. So all students with 22 points (keep in mind only a hypothetical number for example purposes) and above are accepted for sure.

Hope that helps and eases your fears! I would have never applied to CSN if it was a complete lottery system...yikes, that would be incredibly unfair!

Good Luck!

i was considering apollo, and for some reason i dont trust them, something about it. also they're not accredited by the national board, that's another thing that bothered me.

It always helps to think positively.... I've heard of the "hardness" of trying to get in, into the CSN program but that's true of ALL the nursing schools around here. . . I'm not a native nevadan, but the word is, nursing schools have gone crazy with their requirements for the past few years because of the number of their applicants, maybe nursing is a fad, who knows? :nurse: Getting stressed out of whether we get in or not is just part of the " pre-nursing jitters "... :wink2: :wink2:
