How to get WA RN license

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and I need help! I had just take CGFNS CP ( because I signed up wronglyand BON just asked me to continue) and TOEFL iBT ( which is killing me) so that I can take NCLEX in Seattle. After I took the TOEFL iBT, I know that there is no way I can pass the requirement score total: 83 and speaking:26. Is there any advice please so that I wont need to go through the misery of TOEFL again. Currently I am a green card holder residing in Seattle.

Anyone please advise me and I will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!:crying2:

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with CGFNS CP and TOEFL iBT.... What are those? I'm guessing they have to do with having gone to nursing school somewhere other than the US.

My first reaction is to call the WA BON, and ask them. They're going to be the ones who decide if you've met their requirements. :) Good luck :)

Go to the Washington BON website...just Google it. I have been to it several times and there are instructions on how to obtain licenses from other states as well as out of the country.

Thank you! As TOEFL is one of their requirement in WA but I seen some posting that there are nurses able to get licensed in CA and endorse to WA without any TOEFL requirement. So I will love to find out more about that.

Take an ESL (English as a second language) class while you wait to take the TOEFL again? If you want to communicate with your patients and coworkers, you've got to be able to speak to them in English. There is a reason English proficiency is required: to ensure patient safety. If a doctor mishears you or you misunderstand a doctor, it could be someone's life. Seattle is a large city and I'm sure you can find a class or program to enroll in.

If not, there are inexpensive books you can purchase, you can listen to radio, or just talk to people to improve your English. Good luck! :)

people take NCLEX under CA BRN because of the absence of such other exams... and if u wish to do it, then u have to be patient...because of so many applicants for CA BRN application will be processed 4-6weeks... call the CA BRN to know more about their application process or go to their website, u will find so many helpful information for you...

http://rn.ca.gov/applicants/lic-exam.shtml

application fee is $150

you have to fill up the application form, mail it with your payment

then communicate with your school about your TOR and other pertinent documents stated on the application packet, ALL the documents from your school is strictly mailed by your school directly to CA BRN (not coming from you). There is a request form for the TOR and other requirements for the international graduate included in the packet...

since you are not in California, request for a fingerprint card, its for $51... you can process it in your local police station or sheriff department...and mail it back to CA BRN...

just be sure you have a SS number, CA BRN is strict about that...

if all the requirements are already mailed to the CA BRN, wait for 4-6weeks for their reply (by mail) stating that you are already eligible to take the test... then schedule your exam with pearsonveu...

Goodluck to you.. let me know if you have questions
