For those of you currently working as a CNA, how did you land your job? Did you apply online? Craigslist, Indeed, Career Builder, etc.? Did you know someone there? Did you just call around or go in person?
Thanks for your help!

I got certified last August.I got a newspaper and saw that a nursing home was hiring cnas.I went and was hired on the spot.Hated the nursing home I was there for 3 months. While I was working there I got a prn job at another nursing home.I filled out an apllication and came back the next day. After working prn for a month a full time position came up and I took it and I quit the first nursing home.I had a job interview and was hired.I was there for for 9 months.I didnt hate but I wanted to try something new.I really wanted to work in a Hospital it took almost a year and 5 applications later when I landed the job interview. It is one of the biggest hospitals in my area.I feel really blessed that I got the job.The pay is good and after 1 year of employment they pay for you to go back to school. The thing about the hospital I work at is that they want you to advance and they will help you do it.The nursing homes I was at the pay was not good and basically you were stuck there.I love hospital work so much more.:):):):)

I applied for jobs online at many hospitals (very big places often have online applications). Applying in person with paper is probably better for places that allow it, but honestly, many of the hospitals very strongly encouraged the online route. Later, I applied to smaller places and long-term care facilities both online and on paper.
Ultimately, I got to the second interview stage with one online application and one paper application, and the one job offer I received (and accepted) was the paper application.
Remember to seek help, advice, and third-party proofreading before handing in a resume. Even if you're just going to hand paper in at the front desk, dress to impress. Applying for jobs isn't a small time commitment. =/ Thank-you letters help, too...!
As far as locating jobs, they're often posted directly on the Web sites of the facilities you're considering for work. To make a good impression, make sure to call and ask only if you're sure that they haven't posted the opportunity somewhere obvious. If you see no obvious postings, do give them a call, because someone can tell you if they are hiring.
Even if they are not hiring right now, facilities might accept your application and hold it for the future.
You might find job postings on Craigslist, Monster, in the newspaper, or elsewhere, but all the jobs I applied for were posted either directly on the facility Web site or inside the building itself. There were quite a few; I always had another application to fill out.

First, I applied at hospitals.
Then I rode my bike to a nearby nursing home was hired immediately. Horrible, horrible place, but I stuck it out there for 2+ years and then a nearby hospital hired me.
