How do you find the time to work out while in nursing school? Help i gained 10lbs!

Published

There is so much to do while in nursing school, wen you are not in class, you are studying or practicing skills which is very time consuming, and then you go home and go over the steps, and practice some more lol..not to mention you need to shower, eat, feed the dog, throw out trash, sleep lol..you get the point..I feel like nursing school is exhausting, especially on days that you have to be a clinical at 7am and you need to be up by 5am..when do you exercise, and how do you have the energy to do so? oo yeah and when you are not studying, you want some time to relax..who wants to exercise? i have gained 10lbs since i started nursing school and i just finished my first semester..part of it , its my fault because i chose to eat certain foods, because i like to eat..normally i would just exercise and burn off those calories, but now i feel like i have no time or energy to do that! but i also blame it on stress..wen im stressed i eat more, also for some reason studying makes me more hungry! lol i guess i have to start watching what i eat, and eat healthier..its not like im overweight or anything, i look fine like this, but im not very happy with the way i look .but i dont want to gain any more weight! any advice?

If there was only a Nursing Workout DVD that helped you know your Beta Blockers, Ace Inhibitors and Calcium Channel Blockers while doing your leg presses!!!

I'm on my way to 3rd semester and I've gained about 15 pounds. Once I'm on like a break (spring break) I start working out again. I notice my face gets slimmer then I go back to school and fat face comes back!

Things you can do is take the stairs instead of the elevator. Prepare a healthy snack to nibble on. And when you have a break, do a calorie blastor workout..

Honestly for me, I used working out as my break from school. I would take time out of the day to just escape everything school related. Between tests, clinicals, skills, everything, I needed to unwind and would just say, you know, if I take an hour away from everything, I will come back more refreshed and ready to go.

Plus I LOVE to cook so I hardly ever ate fast food and watch what I eat closely.

I use to walk during my lunch break during school.

I could get in at least 30-40 minutes of "power walking". I started on my own and by the end of a few weeks, I had a regular group walking with me! It was great.

I also use to go to the gym after school and read my notes while exercising on the Stairmaster.

Be sure to bring some snacks with you during the day. Something that you can eat during class that is quiet (like a banana, orange, LF brownie, etc...). That way you won't be ravenous at the end of the day.

Another thing that I use to do was to cook a large pot of stew, chili or soup. That way, I had a meal waiting for me at home. I didn't have to prepare anything or worry about what I was going to eat. It was convenient, very healthy and economical, too!

thanks everyone for all your suggestions! i don't know about listening to a lecture while exercising tho..that isn't very motivating..i usually listen to music wen i exercise..lol it keeps me going, im not crazy about exercising but it's good for u and the music is what pumps me up lol but the way i c is that it would defintely be a stress reliever and a break from the books and when i come back i will be more refreshed and ready to conquer anything lol..i guess that is a good way of looking at it! also the snack thing is a good idea as well..i dont know how u listen to a lecture while working out tho n how do u read or study, i just can't..i wouldn't be able to concentrate at my gym..well this month i dont have clinical until feb. i believe i have about two days off from class, and another day i start at 1pm, so i will be taking advantage of that..i think i can lose those 10lbs in a month, and i will be wearing my fajita..dont know how to say that in english but it's something u wear around your waist that makes you sweat like crazy lol..so my plan is exercise now in january and lose those extra lbs, and then if i cnt later on and i gain the weight back i won't look horrible because like i mentioned before i am not overweight at 120..i look okay, but it really sucks because i haven't weighed that since i was 18 and im weighing that again.. but i am definitely changing the way i eat ..newyear's resolution lol...well i wanna keep writing but im gettin sleepy..thanx all and happy new year!
