I'm very curious as to when you actually start clinicals. Was it the beginning of the semester, middle or end or even before the semester started like in the summer? I don't know how it works at my CC....I do know that we have to purchase uniforms for it....we only have it one day a week from 8:30 to 2:20....is this unusually long.....I see I'm going to have to get my feet and legs prepared.....lol.

Interesting thread.
I have my schedule for September (first semester), and we have lecture Monday/Wednesday, clinical all day Tuesday, Lab on Friday. I assumed we started clinical within a week or two, as nothing was said when I met with my advisor to do up my schedule about it being in October or anything. Guess I'll wait and see!
My clinicals started after 1 week in nursing 1. We had one weekend of basic skills and the next week we were on the floor at a nursing home scared as can be...wow that seems like such a long time ago....Nursing is all about learning while you are on the floor. Be willing to participate in what ever need be. Help the nurses on the floor out and ask lots of questions.....when in doubt if you can or can't do something, consult your clinical instuctor.
Good luck
i'm not sure we touch ltc in our program. it looks like a lot of you began at a ltc facility. we were introduced to a med/surg floor 3 weeks into our first semester. we will be starting our second semester clinical two days into the semster with our first skills lab starting immediately following orientation. how's that for not dilly-dallying.
sounds like my program. no fooling around at my school. we also don't do ltc.
