How did everyone Celebrate getting into Nursing School?

Published

Ok I'm curious, how did everyone celebrate the news when they got into nursing school? I'm still in shock I guess of getting in and keep thinking I should be doing something to prepare. I'm sure these feelings are normal huh?

BTW does everyone post here or in other areas of the forum? There are so many threads, it's hard to keep up or know where to go.

Congrats on getting into nursing school :balloons: . I didnt really celebrate because I was in no hurry to get in, but just happened to get in on the first try. Just relax and enjoy your free time before you start.

I find the easiest way to veiw threads is to just go down to the top drop down menu and click on forums with the last 24 hours.

Good luck

I had a nice dinner out with my husband and family to celebrate. The best thing to do before starting is to relax, get your house in order and rest. Once you start school, the house will be a mess on occasions, you will be tired, trying to stay organized and on top of all the info coming at you and you will miss those days when you could just do whatever you wanted to, so enjoy your time off. Congrats and good luck to you on your new journey. What school did you get in to? I am in Wayne County Community College, finishing up my first semester of nursing school.

That's good advice! :) Thanks! I got into LCC (Lansing Community College.) How is your semester going? Does WCCC offer a career step ladder program where you can sit for LPN boards after 1 year?

Are you a nurse now? Thank you for the advice! That's great you got in on the first try. I did too but I sure was sweating bullets. I feel honored like I'm part of a "secret club" because so many individuals would want to be in the same place. Guess I'm a firm believer in not taking things for granted.

HAVE A PARTY!!!!!!! LOL Im not in yet.. planning for jan of 08.. but once I get my "happy letter" Im having a party because I have been busting my rear end the past year... LOL.. BTE CONGRATS!

I didn't plan on doing anything special, but about a week after I received my letter my hubby and both boys made me a very nice dinner complete with my favorite dessert and presented me with an engraved, rasberry Littman stethoscope and told me how proud they were of me. It was a very moving gesture. Any time I get discouraged or doubt my abilities when i start the program all I will have to do is look at that stethoscope to remember why I am doing this.

unfortunately WCCC does not offer that option, but I think it is great LCC does. My husband was born and raised in Lansing, and I have been to Sparrow, where my sister in law passed away. She was in the ICU for 3 weeks, and they took very good care of her. Is that where you plan on working? I saw they were adding on to it. Well, good luck and you will enjoy it. It is a privilege to gain a spot in any nursing program. There are so, so many applicants or soon to be applicants trying to get in, so be proud of yourself.

That was very thoughtful and sweet of them. Sometimes, school can get overwhelming and some days, you want to throw in the towel, but would never really...so it is those days when that stethoscope could really brighten up your day. That was a great present. My husband bought me a pink Littman. It is for breast cancer awareness, and I love it too.

i have to say, i'm in cali though, but the night before i got my letter, i was discussing what i should do since it didnt seem like nursing school was every going to happen for me. anyhow i havent celebrated yet it still seems unreal, but when i start school i think im going to kiss the dang desk!!!!

Hi,

Not a nurse yet, but I am graduating from nursing school on May 18th, so very soon . Good idea on not taking things for granted that is never a good idea. Good luck in school and to everyone else who got in.

First off, congrats, ! Well your about to learn the basics of being a nurse so u don't need to brush up or study anything. Buy a stethoscope etc.. your school will probably tell u what to buy. Good Luck!
