How do employers view RN to BSN online completion programs?

Just wondering, since I am considering going this route for financial reasons. Many of the programs I looked at are accredited, but do employers look down at your education I'd you receive it online?

Has anyone gone through any of these, and what was your experience? Recommendations on programs? It's a lot of money to spend if employers don't view it as the same as classroom education.

Not sure they really look that close or care, as long as the state accepts its accredidation.

Once you have your license nobody cares. The only reason to consider this, is the quality of the education, will it meet your needs? I have two degrees from Excelsior and it worked great for me.

Specializes in ER/ICU/STICU.

Never had a problem with employers or for grad school. As long as it is accredited.

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I completed a RN to BSN online program through ODU. The only thing my job cares about is that I have a BSN:twocents: I am now working on an MSN program online through Liberty University and looking to possibly switch to a DNP program online. They want the education the only place I have heard that has had some issues is Excelsior but that is only in some states.

If you do your RN-BSN at a school that also has nursing programs that are campus based, no one will ever know. Your degree doesn't say "online."

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I am wokring on my RN-BSN online and so far my expereince nobody has cared where the degree comes from as long as it is accredited. I work for a large health system that requires all acute care nurses to be BSN by 2018.
