I applied to 5 schools, but really only know the stats for 2 of them:My first choice of schools had 280 applicants for 32 day seats.
My second choice had 188 qualified applicants, which they weeded down and gave interviews to 60 of them (yes, I was one of them, thank GOD) and they have 15 day seats open.
I'm really not too sure about the other 3.
Congrats on getting that far thats excellent!
Schools here are very competitive too I am only applying to one the CC that I am doing my pre reqs at, I chose it because they go only on GPA and I am working toward a 4.0 however its so competitive they now have to find a way to get through the 4.0's so as of the fall applicants those people have to take an assesment test as well as having a 4.0. Not the TEAS or NLN just some random school assesment. There are only 12 spots for the fall and 24 for the spring and over 250 applicants.
I have been told that our school has roughly 300 qualified applicants (meaning they scored what was necessary on the NLN PEX as well as live in the correct county as they only choose those from our county first, so there are way more than 300 applying, just not qualified). Out of those 300, there are 60 seats available per semester. 1/2 in the day and 1/2 at night.
It is stressful for sure!
about 400 apps for 40 seats in spring and 80 seats in fall, they alternate because they have a night program in fall..the district I am in does not have a nursing school but they have an agreement with another district that does have one and they have 8 spots for those of us that are out of district..I have a question regarding wait lists..our school doesn't have an ongoing wait list..example: you did not get accepted in Aug. so you are put on the wait list....and you are fifth on the wait lisd... you are left hoping that people will drop or get dropped so you can get in...if you don't get in you are thrown back into the mix with the applicant pool which may move you further down the list for the next semester....so basically the wait list starts all over each semster.....any other schools do that?
Wonder why some programs are so secretive on how many applications they got?
I can see where it can hurt them both ways, if the applications are low, then some people might thing it's not a good program. If it's high, some students might thing that they don't have a chance and not apply at all.
