I am working under OPT which will expire soon in March next year.
My lawyer filed the paperwork with my visa screen about two weeks ago but by far I only got the reciept of I-485, I-1765 (employment authorization) and I-131 with the same notice dates.
What's up with I-140? I should have recieved them at the same time. Is it because the I-140 department have more paperwork to deal with, so the receipt will be sent later???? Is this because of the retrogression? I am from Thailand, not one of the PIC countries... but is the expected retrogression worldwide or in specific countries?
My lawyer said because of lots for paperwork, sometimes they will send the approval for my case soon without the receipt..that also happens..they might forget or they sent it some place else(my address, or hospital adress)... just don't worry about it..:uhoh21:
Anyway without the receipt of I-140, I cannot follow up on my case!! Should I insist my lawyer to follow up if he hasn't received it within a month.
:angryfire
What should she/he do if he/she do not get the receipt?
Does any of you get I-140 reciept later than I-485, and other receipts.
I hope my I-140 receipt should come in next week.
What about fingerprint for I-485? Do I need to get it done ASAP?
[*]I recieved I-140 reciept yesterday, though. Don't worry if you recieve it later than other application. Might be because they are busier in that particular processing department.
[*]I have a question.. Do INS schedule you the fingerprint? On the reciept, it tells you that if this is I-485, the next step is to call for scheduling fingerprint.
I call them and and the customer service said that it is a mistake.... He asked how long ago I received I-485... He said that INS is supposed to send me a letter and schedule me for finger print... Please reply.. I just would like to get thing done in time.

You will get a different appointment letter for fingerprinting. Very soon, don't worry about it. Is your service center TSC?
Nasai, thank for your reply. I notice that the date haven't moved from July 20 for I-140 petition.

Which center is handling your processing? Right now, California is actually at the top of the list.

I'm with California and I am sure at the beginning of this month they was processing up to 20th June and now they have updated and saying 16th June
I feel in a time warp and never gonna get out there :angryfire

you know what? i thought Vermont processing date would move this time , however, it stay put and seemed never gonna move forward. situation in California is much better than there.
I used Texas service center because I am in the southeast. I hope it move further than July 20 soon. One thing I would say is that we can't rely on the date on the website much. Sometimes things might get processed earlier than the date shown. My brother got his green card approved (due to family sponsorship) 5 month beyond the processing date on the website and beyond the cut off date in visa bulletin. I also got EAD card this week which is one month faster than the processing date shown in Texas service center.
I think texas is the fastest right now. They are processing Aug 05 for I-140.
