I would hope your school supplies the students with the ATI book series? They are very useful and help you study more efficiently, not only for the ATI but also for the NCLEX.
Nope.!!! The ATI test was just introduced to my school for the Exit test. That's what really scared me about the test. Because am so used to the HESI Test format. So am using this opportunity to seek for help, the exam date is far approaching. I will be so grateful if you can be of help.

ATI is just plain weird. We had ATI last semester just for "practice" but this semester they have implemented it as a requirement. One thing about ATI is they grade on levels. Level 1, 2 or 3. Level 3 is the highest. The way our school does it is if you receive a Level 1 you are credited with 78 points. Level 2 is 84 and Level 3 is 92 points. Since 78 is the lowest C you can make in our program, there really is no way to fail. Not sure if this is standard, or just our school.
ATI words their questions a little different than what I was used to but I did a lot of practice on their online practice tests (you should have been given access to these when given the materials). If there was a question I didnt understand I went to my textbook to read more about it. The ATI books are good but are very, very minimal when it comes to explanation.
Another thing with ATI is their grading. I'm really still trying to figure it out. The last test we took was pharmacology. I received a 78.8% on it. However, this was in the 98% nationally and a level 3. ????? I don't get it. So when you are taking practice tests, don't panic when you see your score, I think its all relative.
Read the book the best you can and do the practice tests and you should be ok. Good Luck!!!!
I understand all your explanation, but in my school we are not provided any practice test. We just need the test for our exist exam. That is one of my problem regarding the test. I need information abt the test blue print. If i can get information, that will reduce my test anxiety. Time is ticking:banghead:. I need help fast. I will keep :typing until i can get somebody to help fast. Am so

You get your level according to the national average. The worse everyone else does the better you do. If you got a 78.8% but 98th then the rest of the country probably score din the 50's or so. Look at your results and look down at the national average, but it is pretty low.
I need help and information regarding the test. I dont have much on the test, that is why am seeking for information from who had taken it in 2008/2009. Does the test give SATA, DOSAGE CAL etc.:typing

ATI books are great for review for general knowledge but even if you read them 100 times they won't prepare you for this test. The questions at the back of each chapter are not the type on the exam and, like me, if most your nursing exams have been mostly knowledge based you are not trained to take this exam. It is online, not paper. :crash: So, you can't underline key words or slash out incorrect choices as you may have been doing. The practice exam was not like the real exam either. Don't waste your time cramming facts into your head and spend time understanding how to answer an NCLEX type of question. It really is a test on taking a test. So, review your weak areas but spend your time studying test taking techniques. I have been reviewing the beginning of NCLEX books for this type of review and I have a book called "Test Success" by Nugent and Vitale that helps you focus on cracking the questions. I found the beginning of Kaplan's NCLEX-RN helpful. Just keep in mind that you most likely know the facts for the exam......you need to study a new approach to taking an exam. ATI is really not a test of knowledge but critical thinking. Good Luck!
PS....I know the pressure of these exams; our college makes us pass each ATI subject area after each clinical and if you fail ATI, you fail the course even if you had an A. Plus, we are only allowed to retake two courses and then we are expelled. I feel it is unreasonable treatment to the students just to make the college look good on high pass rates for NCLEX. Good Luck!!!
Thanks!!

The best way to ensure a passing grade on the ATI is to really study the practive exams and rationales to all the options inside those questions lies the answers and some questions to the proctored exams! i started getting below level 1 and now i am hitting levels 2 and 3! just because i learned how to take the test!

If you've been in class doing well it shouldn't be a problem.
