You will find most hospitals will assist IEN but you need to approach them and ask in the area you want to work

Would like to pursue a nursing career in Canada, but havent find "relevant" infos regarding applying there. Are there any hospitals that sponsor foreing nurses?

Will check the website you posted. thanks

I used to work in Calgary (Alberta), and they do a lot of sponsoring of international nurses. I think most of the health regions in larger cities would have programs and budgets to get you here and get you nursing :)

Try Calgary. It's a neat place to work & live, but the nursing shortage is terrible there, so you're often working short.

Good luck!

It is not a point of going to the Canadian Embassy, you need to start with the licensing process from the province that you wish to work in and meet their requirements. The Canadian Embassy does not handle anything with that, only the licensing boards do.

The Embassy doesn't have anything to do with hiring into hospitals either. All the Embassy can do for you is help you access the correct forms for immigrating and tell you what documents you'll need for that. They don't have anything to do with job placements, licenses or finding you a place to live.

Totally different than the US system. Hospitals generally do not "sponsor or petition nurses" like in the US which is the correct term. You need to check the immgration sites for information on how to get a work visa and then the college of RN's of each individual province would give details on licensure as it varies province to province.

You still need to contact hospitals because for work permit you need a LMO and employers have to get that. You have better chance with hospital if you have already started the province process

Hi Suzanne!

I wouldd just like to ask if I could apply for a license in CANADA by applying for reciprocity since I passed NCLEX? Or I should still take the canadian nursing board exam?

thanks much!

hi kitin!

just want to help and clarify:

NCLEX is for US

CRNE is for Canada

There is no reciprocity between these two countries since in US, eligibility for NCLEX is according to each state's requirements. As for Canada, each province has its own nursing authority to assess your qualifications.

Also, passing the NCLEX-RN exam or PN exam doesn't give you extra credit to be granted an eligibility to take the CRNE.

Hope this helps.:heartbeat
