How to Apply for NYU 15-Month Program

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi, I'm applying to the accelerated NYU program for January and am wondering which essay questions to fill out. For some reason, I think it's only the 4 personal statements and then essay D (for transfer students), but I can't find where I read that so I'm not sure if this is correct! Does anyone know which statements/essays to fill out?

Thanks!

I know! I am applying there for spring as well, and I think the app is pretty silly. I dont know what kind of poem I should write about myself. I was told by NYU admissions that you have to fill everything out, but I am putting more weight on the essay. Where did you find the nutrition course? I'm actually gonna take it online @ the U of phoenix because they offer a 5 week course every month

Wait, they told you to fill EVERYTHING out? Like, ALL the 400-500 word essays? I think "regular" applications only need to select one, so I'm thinking that we just need to do the last one as well.

Oh no, the poem was so silly! I'm having a ton of trouble with the movie question too... is this really important for nursing students?!

I took the Nutrition course up in Maine over the summer. I'm sure taking with University of Phoenix would be okay too - I think NYU said that Nutrition is okay to take online. I really liked the class! It was a 7-week class so it's about the same length as the one you're thinking about, and it was totally fine - not too intense at all. Do you have the rest of the prereqs done?

Are you in NYC?

Yes have been living here since 2006. I really don't want to go to nyu because of the costs and I haven't quite figured out how I am gonna pay for it.

This semester I'm taking chemistry (my last

chem was too old) and anthro. I am

done everything else except the nutrition. Did you complete the app yet? I really have so much going on now. I have to somehow take s five week nutriton course during the two courses I'm taking now. Plus apply to other schools. Did I me tion how much university of Phoenix costs. Yikes! As I have said before, it's all for the greater good. Did you apply to any other schools?

I know it is SO expensive. I would rather go to SUNY Downstate, but it is just so competitive to get in that I'd rather not take chances. The other problem is that even if I'm accepted to SUNY, I wouldn't know until AFTER I start NYU, if I'm accepted. Ugh...

Where are you taking Chemistry? I'm taking it at Queensborough! Oh, check out http://www.sln.suny.edu for all the online SUNY courses offered throughout the state. I don't know if it's too late to register, but it's worth checking out! I did a Developmental Psych class through it this winter and it was really cheap compared to everywhere else!

I am taking today to really finish the app. Working on the 500-word essay right now. Are you done with everything?

I'm taking my chem at bmcc. I did check the sln first, but the classes already started :( I will just have to drop roughly $1500 just for the one class. I am almost finished the essay just waiting for my roommate to correct it. Are you applying to any other schools? I am applying to suny, pace and . Possibly considering Columbia.

My mother who is an np told me to just go to a school that accepts me no matter the cost. I've already accepted the fact that I will be in debt forever. Lol. Do you have any healthcare experience? I currently work for a doctor

I'm not applying anywhere else yet, not until I hear back from NYU. I couldn't find other accelerated programs that started in January! I'm a massage therapist in NYC, working with mostly prenatal clients, and have an Associates in Occupational Sciences from massage school.

This application is so annoying! Did you pick your "famous New Yorker" yet? Do they want someone related to nursing/medicine, or is it really just whoever you want?

A friend of mine just started at Pace and says it is SO intense because it's only 3 semesters. I guess it's the kind of program that there's really no way to get all the work done - you just have to do the best you can. And she's a smart lady!

I believe it can be whoeve you want. I'm still stuck on the poem. Lol. I actually just spoke to someone in admissions. We only have to do essay D but must do the short answer. On the plus side it only has to be three sentences each. I just want to be done!

The person I spoke with name is Lindsey sutton 212 998 5336

Okay, THANK YOU for your help!! Poor Lindsey Sutton - that woman has been getting emails from me for the past 2 years about applying! The info on the website is just not clear! For example, the priority deadline is October 1 - does this mean they need to have it by October 1, or that it needs to be postmarked? Are you doing the priority deadline?????

I'm not sure if I will make the priority deadline but I will try. I'm hoping they give me an early decision because I have to get the finances in order! We should keep in touch no matter what program we get into. It's always nice to talk with someone going through the same things I am. There is a way to email through all nurses, but I haven't quite figured it out. Send me a message and I'll forward my email

Yes let's definitely keep in touch - we may be classmates! I don't think I can message you til I hit 11 posts (or something like that) and I haven't done that yet... but soon! I just sent in my transcripts etc today and am TRYING to finish the insane question about a movie being made in 2050... I am totally stuck! GOOD LUCK!!!!

I know! Those questions are pretty silly. I'm pretty much. Done my app just putting final touches on the essay and still trying to figure out my famous newyorker. Will send transcripts this week. If it all works out we will be classmates! Feel free to say hi. Good luck!
