  1. This is happening to me too! I think I'm developing an allergy on my hands and wrists to the blue contact gowns we use with isolation patients. At work it's fine because the Purell seems to soothe the itch, but at home that night and the next day it's pure torture! I actually thought it was ringworm at first (ew) but my dermatologist said it's probably contact dermatitis. Hydrocortisone doesn't even touch it, so I've been using fluocininide 0.05%, which takes a while to kick in but does the trick eventually.
  2. Hi there - I just wanted to report that I received my acceptance letter from NYU today! Good luck to you too!!!
  3. Yay good luck!!! I know, I want to know soooo soon! I think sometimes people don't even hear til December. Oh, did you fill out your FAFSA yet? I've never done financial aid before and am totally confused. Oh well. GOOD LUCK to both of us!!!
  4. Yes let's definitely keep in touch - we may be classmates! I don't think I can message you til I hit 11 posts (or something like that) and I haven't done that yet... but soon! I just sent in my transcripts etc today and am TRYING to finish the insane question about a movie being made in 2050... I am totally stuck! GOOD LUCK!!!!
  5. Okay, THANK YOU for your help!! Poor Lindsey Sutton - that woman has been getting emails from me for the past 2 years about applying! The info on the website is just not clear! For example, the priority deadline is October 1 - does this mean they need to have it by October 1, or that it needs to be postmarked? Are you doing the priority deadline?????
  6. I'm not applying anywhere else yet, not until I hear back from NYU. I couldn't find other accelerated programs that started in January! I'm a massage therapist in NYC, working with mostly prenatal clients, and have an Associates in Occupational Sciences from massage school. This application is so annoying! Did you pick your "famous New Yorker" yet? Do they want someone related to nursing/medicine, or is it really just whoever you want? A friend of mine just started at Pace and says it is SO intense because it's only 3 semesters. I guess it's the kind of program that there's really no way to get all the work done - you just have to do the best you can. And she's a smart lady!
  7. I know it is SO expensive. I would rather go to SUNY Downstate, but it is just so competitive to get in that I'd rather not take chances. The other problem is that even if I'm accepted to SUNY, I wouldn't know until AFTER I start NYU, if I'm accepted. Ugh... Where are you taking Chemistry? I'm taking it at Queensborough! Oh, check out http://www.sln.suny.edu for all the online SUNY courses offered throughout the state. I don't know if it's too late to register, but it's worth checking out! I did a Developmental Psych class through it this winter and it was really cheap compared to everywhere else! I am taking today to really finish the app. Working on the 500-word essay right now. Are you done with everything?
  8. Hey Kirham - SUNY offers a TON of classes online - I'm not sure if it's too late to sign up for the semester, but check out http://www.sln.suny.edu. They list all the online courses offered by every SUNY school in the state, and the rates are super-low if you are in-state. I took a Developmental Psych course through them earlier this year.
  9. Wait, they told you to fill EVERYTHING out? Like, ALL the 400-500 word essays? I think "regular" applications only need to select one, so I'm thinking that we just need to do the last one as well. Oh no, the poem was so silly! I'm having a ton of trouble with the movie question too... is this really important for nursing students?! I took the Nutrition course up in Maine over the summer. I'm sure taking with University of Phoenix would be okay too - I think NYU said that Nutrition is okay to take online. I really liked the class! It was a 7-week class so it's about the same length as the one you're thinking about, and it was totally fine - not too intense at all. Do you have the rest of the prereqs done? Are you in NYC?
  10. Hi, I'm applying to the accelerated NYU program for January and am wondering which essay questions to fill out. For some reason, I think it's only the 4 personal statements and then essay D (for transfer students), but I can't find where I read that so I'm not sure if this is correct! Does anyone know which statements/essays to fill out? Thanks!
