How to apply to nursing school

Published

I am from NYC and I would really love to apply to schools around this area, however, I know how extremely competitive it is so I am willing to go far from my family. Unfortunately I have been struggling so much with A&P it makes me want to just drop everything It has put me in a very depressed mood and I can't seem to shake it off. SO, please if anyone has any advice or has had personal cases where they have been accepted into nursing schools without getting the best grades in A&P please let me know what you have done and how was the process. I have such a passion for the health care field and I would really love to become a nurse and I know I can do well in the other courses but it's just the fact that I am not doing well in A&P no matter how hard I try is what kills me.

please anyone some advice?

Clear your mind of those thoughts like "I want to drop everything." If you want to be a nurse and are that passionate for that goal then you have to step back and figure some things out:

1. Are you asking unreasonable demands of yourself in A&P? Are you getting more stressed than you have to be?

2. Are you studying as hard or often as you could be?

3. Are you using all the resources you could be to help you study?

4. Are the thoughts of "just give up" distracting you from really doing as well as you can be?

I almost gave up when I was denied into the nursing program the first time (I didn't know but at the time it was because I needed a specific prereq class first). It's easy to talk ourselves out of things sometimes.

You're right I try to keep a positive attitude and I do study as much as I can but I also am taking other classes. I stress myself out and you're first point is so true I honestly think I stress myself to the point where I forget things I'm positive I know but doubt myself and I don't know how to fix that.

Which nursing program are you currently in?

I'm in a university in nj ..it was the closest to me. But I went to a community college first to pull up grades. I just felt like you were stressing yourself when I read your first post. I guess you'll get more confidence when you finish more classes and see you're passing and doing good. Just right now it's only going to hurt how well you really are able to do.
