I am a LPN I make a little over 86k/yr, when I finish my bachelors later this year(currently doing it online) it will increase to 113k/yr. I am not able to save money I do not know what it is. On top of that I have bad credit. Just a year ago I had excellent credit. Over 730. Now I believe it is 500 something all because Im bad with paying bills that I was mailing checks back to instead of paying online or through an automatic payment option. BC of my job (7 overnights/wk) I really do not think about anything else besides my job and my time and sleep. I have to sleep during the mornings into the early afternoons and I take another nap around 6-7pm until 1030 for work at 11pm. I know no one hear is likely to be a financial advisor but how can I afford CRNA school with bad credit and not able to save money? Is there a way to take out a school loan with bad credit? Military or co signer is not an option. I also take care of my friend who is not working and all of their expenses, food, haircuts, phone bill, toiletries, you name it. look at that friend as equivelant to having a few kids. So imagine I am a single mom juggling night shifts and kids and school. What would be your advice. Idk how I would afford 2 years of school plus food and rent/board. Please help. Hopefully 2-3 years working on my bsn/icu experience improves my credit a little more. I am now on top of my bills paying online or by phone.

Although I am not even close to applying to CRNA school, I feel that I have learned so much about personal finance from Dave Ramsey. I went from living pay check to pay check with no savings and now I am well on my way to financing my education cash all because of what I learned from Dave. He is a financial guru and I would recommend that you listen to his podcast on his website or through iheartradio. You can even call into his radio show and ask him what he thinks you should do.. Worth a shot! Good luck!

Yeah you need some major financial help. Dave Ramsey is legit and that's probably a great option for you.

During nursing school 2 years ago I was making roughly 15K/year, living, AND paying off my school as I went. I graduated with no debt, and no financial help from anyone (other than uncle sam and private scholarships).

You're in kind of a quasi reality where spending 84K a year is the norm. It's time for a MAJOR overhaul.

Get the book kynzoesmommy mentioned and get ready for some big time changes if you want to be successful. You've got all the potential.

Thanks so much. I know I really don't know where it goes. I calculated all my expenses and even went over for gas/groceries even a seperate rough amount for fast food and came around 4300/mo of spending. That means there's still 2k unaccounted for! I'm trying to make a log of every single payment or purchases or money I give away. Its like really ridiculous I'm single living paycheck to paycheck with my salary. I'm happy another person confirmed the legit ness of the book. Thanks so much guys I'm really excited I may finally get my life in order while I'm at my current case. I know I will regret it later!

My question is where the heck are you an LPN?! 84k?! Yes Dave ramsey is great I've heard.

How the heck do you have time to spend so much money when you're at work 7 days a week?!?! I'm grateful for my work days because I know I only spend 5-10 dollars on those days for lunch because I am work the rest of the time and can't do any shopping.

Hey Carley77, actually a little over 86k and in New York. I get paid 32.14 an hour through Medicaid and I work a private case. You can make this too. You have to get your Medicaid # to become an independent medicaid provider. First you apply for your npi # and then your Medicaid #. The pay is actually 22 for normal cases. If you have a pediatric medically fragile child you will fill out the extra form and get the 30% increase so its 32.12 for lpns and 42.14 for rn's if you have a medically fragile pediatric case. The other thing is im blessed to make this full time 7 days a week (technically 7 overnights). Yes im crazy. If you don't find a pediatric case just know that you may be better off going through an agency or working at a nursing home. As an independent Medicaid provider you pay your own taxes and theres no benefits. My site is emedny.org. Im not sure what yours would be. Try searching this site.

Schnookims, because Im very generous and I help out family and friends. My best friend in particular who has recently moved in with me is very high maintenance and such a brat. I feel like I know what its like being a single mom with 5 kids because of him. I'm trying to get myself and order, I like helping people out but I have my own hopes and dreams you know. I really want to start saving while Im at this job. I cant work 7 overnights.. it is brutal.

I'm really looking forward to getting the above mentioned book. In fact I am going to order it right now from amazon.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY OTHER ADVISE ON SAVING $ PLEASE HELPP

Im making payments on a car I bought late in 2012, should I sell it before I go to CRNA school? It would be so difficult paying 800 a month for my note and insurance monthly for 2 years on top of school right?? That's about 20k in itself!!! I need some serious advice. I really want to go to Rutgers..
