Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Has anyone who got hired from HCA women’s services been contacted about the process or anything? I know other departments have been contacted to begin the process but I don’t know if anyone from women’s services has heard anything

Nada for me as well. I’m at southeast L&D

Same here. I’m Postpartum at Tomball

  1. I’m at Womans Hospital and I have heard nothing about the process yet either.

Has anyone already done their titers?

I have a hep B titer done since it was required by my school, but don’t have any others done. Does HCA require all of them?

I did all I had to do for school but honestly the list was longer than HepB. Patiently waiting. I’ve had a great summer but I am actually ready to get started.

I’ve gotten even more antsy to start as I’ve started seeing my classmates post about starting haha

Those that have already started with HCA, what does the employee screening entail?

Same! I think I heard that they will send out more information a month before the program begins, so hopefully sometime this week!

I received an email regarding the urine drug test and bloodwork! I just went and got them done at Lab Corp. I asked when we’ll receive our contract and the recruiter said soon

I got an email for the urine drug test but not for the blood work. Going to be in the med center Monday for another appointment so I was opening to knock the labs out in one day ?

Has anyone from HCA Women’s services received information about the program location? It’s less than a week away and I haven’t received anything

I haven’t either. While at a Dr.s appointment a few weeks ago I saw the cohort that started 7/22 at the 7400 Fannin building so it may be there.

I was wondering the same thing...I emailed the "Onboarding Specialist" who said: The location email is being sent today. Email me if you do not receive by tonight and let me know.
