Houston Nurse Residency Winter/Spring 2024

Published

Hi everyone! I will be graduating with my BSN this semester and I'm applying for residencies in the Houston area. I already applied to Houston Methodist but wanted to hear about other programs that might be interesting. Best of luck!

Did anyone apply to the HCA residency program?

Yes I did, I received a phone appt with a recruiter after my application was submitted. I guess beginning stages before interviews with the floor. But I have been hearing mixed reviews about the hospital. Have you heard anything?

Anybody looking to get into the VA?

The pay and benefits are top notch. My only problem is I want ICU but they don't hire new grads for that specialty so I'd probably have to do med surg.

does anyone know if lbj and methodist is first come first serve like HCA when it comes to call backs? or do they just pick applications after the deadline and call then?

Yeah theres a lot of mixed reviews but I heard it mainly depends on the hospitals, some are better than others. They have cohorts every month too, so you could start sooner if spots open up.

Okay thank you guys. I wonder how their woman's services is. But I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for Memorial LOL

It seems like TCH,ST.Joseph, and MD are the only ones that haven't opened their residency. I'm constantly checking my application statuses LOL and 2 of them at Methodist is under review. Do any of you plan to go to the Job Fair a MH-TMC on 9/20?

same! I applied for L&D at memorial

went to harris health's informational, it seems like LBJ and Ben Taub is extremely competitive because they are only accepting 1-2 new grads per unit expect ER is 10. they said they get around 500-600 applications (I think)
