I wanted to go ahead and start a thread for all the Houston applicants! Where is everyone applying and what units? Would love for us to connect throughout the process.

Are open house Pre-match days similar to hiring events or do you just get an overview of different specialties that the hospital offers? Sorry all this is new to me but would love to know more ?

Yes they are similar to hiring events!! Typically directors from the different units will speak briefly about their floor. They provide their names and contact information, so at least you have an opportunity to network with them and reach out to them so they can be somewhat familiar with you or at least recognize your name if you’re persistent with staying in contact with them. They’re not mandatory to get accepted into the program, but just a great way to get a little more info about the area and provide a great way to network and meet the leaders!

I’m not from the area but was wondering everyone’s thoughts about labor & delivery at the Women’s hospital of Texas? how’s that hospital overall?

Yes they are over. They ended Thursday. Applications open tomorrow and stay open until the 19th

Hello, 

I’m not from the Houston area either, I just commute. I’m honestly not sure about Woman’s Hospital. I wish I could be more help. Best of luck to you on your nursing journey!
