Houston Community College ADN program 2010

Published

Hi to everyone! I have a couple of questions about hcc adn program.

First how many students do they accept for the fall semester?

If you have taken pharm at another school do they accept the class or will I have to take their pharm class?

How do they rank applicants ( Point system etc)

Is it really hard to get into their program? ( sorry I know that may seem dumb to ask)

I have finished all of the required pre reqs fairly good grades I have 2 C's. I took pharm at lonestar college. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot!

I took the math test last semester and failed it. I was told that it was intermediate math to ensure you could manage dose calculations but when I got there there were abbreviations and some dosage calculations involving i.v. drugs. If I had know that there were going to be abbreviations on a "math" test I could have refreshed myself on those in a matter of minutes. But I was completely unprepared for the iv calculations. I noticed that when I walked into the test that most students had the same review sheet. Any idea where the got this?!? I took pharm at Lonestar too and they don't have this math test that HCC requires. Also, anyone know when the next one is scheduled? I have been talking to Modesytica at the office and I don't know if I can trust that she's going to email me to alert me to the next test date. This is the ONLY thing standing in my way of admittance. Help!

I'm in the HCC ADN program now and my best is advice for anyone asking about HCCS is to go directly to the campus and talk to someone in person. They aren't the most organized and tend to forget to respond to emails....

Is the HESI test at HCCS timed per section or are you given 4hrs to complete the whole HESI test? I take my test on May 8th .... Thanks for your response. :)

The test isn't timed per section...you have a set amount of time for the whole thing.

hello Studying 24.7, I am planning to apply at hcc for Spring 2011. I have taken Hesi english, math and grammer portion of it. Do I have to take the entire test again for HCC since they also require A&P. Also, do have any review for HESI for HCC? please email me if possible. I will private message you. please check your message. thanks a lot.

check your private message :)

You shouldn't have to redo the whole thing but you will have to pay the test proctor to get copies of your results to give HCC. I took the HESI at HCC and had to do that to apply to Lonestar so I didn't have to redo the whole thing.

Well, I have taken the math test and got a 94 on it this time. Found out the nursing office has a review sheet. Now i'm just waiting to hear if I got accepted in the program for the fall. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Are you sure about this? Now I am confused about this. I went to HCC information session yesterday. When I showed them my previous test. They said, I have to take the entire test again since it is lacking Anatomy Physiology portion.

You have mentioned something about paying a fee to proctor, could you elaborate a little bit more so that I would not have to take the entire test again. Who do I need to contact about this situation? Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

I am just going on my experience. I was able to use my previous HESI scores but I had to pay $10.00 to Elsevier(who proctored the test at HCC) to give me official copies of my scores. I then submitted them to Lonestar so that I could apply there as well. If they told you that you have to redo the whole HESI at the information session then I would listen to them.

hey lajames1144, let me know how did you do? i have taken the english part of hesi once, it is not too bad. just review the elseiver guide. it is much easier and less stress full. i will be taking hesi on may 13 again as i have to retake the test to complete anatomy and physiology. any kind of help would be appreciated.

I will surely let you know .... NERVOUS!!!!! I hope i'm not over studying for the A&P part. Does anyone know if it's just basic A&P or are there detailed questions on the test? I think I have Math and Grammar down packed ... and A&P, if the questions dont got into too much detail, like "most of the Na+ is reabsorbed in what part of the renal tubule?" Do you remember how many reading passages that were on the test? Thanks ... Nervousssss \:-)

different school works different way. I took that test for hbu not hcc. this time I will be taking for hccs just because A&P was left out. but it was not hard. english grammar and math was pretty easy and covers most of the evolve study guide. good luck!
