Hello! There are a few threads floating around regarding applications to Houston GN/Nurse Residency positions. I just wanted to start one that discusses all residencies in Houston.
I have already applied for a Memorial Hermann and Ben Taub Nurse residency position. I have also applied to the CVICU, ER, and Women's Services positions for Houston Methodist, as well as an ER position at Texas Children's. I am considering if I still want to apply to St. Lukes. I have decided not to apply to HCA nurse intern positions because they pay beans for the first 12 weeks, and I don't want to work for a corporation that takes advantage of their employees in that way.
I have been invited to Ben Taub's information session, and have received an email from Memorial Hermann HR regarding a behavioral assessment to be an eligible candidate for employment.
I'm wondering where you all may have applied and if anyone has heard anything back from their applications yet?
So they said we can wear scrubs or business casual for out orientation day.. So at MH, what are we allowed to wear ubder the scrubs like long sleeve or jackets?
Hey guys! Happy humpday.. Anyways i would say ill update my experience for prescreening so here it is.
i went yesterday, arrived 15mibs prior and u will be with about 6-7 other people. Anyways, make sure u have all thise paper filled out before u go, thatd the first thing tht ask for.. After they collect all the paper work they talk to for lil bit about what to expect up until jan 22nd our start date. They said once you finish your prescreening , no news is good news. If you do hear back, its because they need something from you, youre mussibg sonething rtc etc. anyways, after you goto prescreening process, you get your eyes checked, drug test etc etc... After you goto a security office to get your picture taken for ID, you will pick up the ID on the day of orientation.. Jan 22nd. Finally you goto get your blood taken out at their lab.. Its on the 15th floor on the medical plaza. After that, youre done... I left exactly at 10am... So was there for few hours. They will tell you everything when you get there, everyone is super friendly and nice. If youre running late, just call them and let them know. There was a girl who was running late yesterday and she called and they were okay with it. Anyways... Hope that helps guys. Most imporant thing is getting those paper completed before u show up, if youre not sure just leave it blank and u can ask them. Goodluck to those taking their nclex!!
I just wanted to say to those who has not gotten an offer, DO NOT GIVE UP. Places such as Memorial is still opening New Grad positions and calling . They are trying to make quick decisions but it is not over. Also remember, if someone does not pass the NCLEX, that is another slot. I also learned to reapply especially if it the position looks like it was reposted. Good luck to everyone.

Oh I think I mispoken. I meant "yes" to I graduated a week ago! I havent gotten my ATT yet. But I have been studying the hurst review. I went to a review back in september and going again in january! Wby?
