My daughter lost everything in a house fire late last night. Thank God no one was home. The dog was the only injury and is touch and go. If anyone is in or around Shawnee, Oklahoma and could help her out till I get home in a week I would greatly appriciate it. She won't take money from me. I plan to take her and my grandkids shopping when i get there. She only has what she had on when they went to dinner. My granddaughter only had on play clothes. She had just finished christmas shopping and lost it too.
Thanks,
Kelly

I am not in a position to host anyone, but have you considered starting a gofundme page and have her contact the local news station? It is situations like these that truly deserve public donations, and a site like gofundme is perfect for that.

House insurance and the Red Cross?

On the contrary, the support from random strangers on the Internet can often be overwhelming. Have you ever seen the photos on Humans of New York on Facebook? People are always volunteering their help no matter the person's plight. Although AllNurses isn't the most optimal place to seek out help, the Internet itself is not to be underestimated.
Please don't misunderstand the plea I made. She just needed a set of clothes for her and her daughter. I did not intend for this to become a debate on help available. She is overwhelmed at this time and would have been nice to see there is someone who could help and not expect anything in return. I am going to do for my daughter when i get there this week.
I see that I made a MISTAKE by sjalv, ADN, RN reply. I did not ask anyone to host her. The Red Cross is going to help as soon as they get the fire report. Salvation army is tapped at this time of year. I was not asking for a hand out just some caring for a child that lost everything and fells the world is against her until I could get home.
Thanks to those for your prayers. I do not consider the people on here random strangers but sisters and brothers in the trenches with me. Again, I apoligize for the mistake.

The Red Cross will give her vouchers to purchase a new set of clothes and essentials They should have been called to the scene at the time of the fire. They also provide a few days of housing. Local churches can assist too.
Random strangers on the Internet requires exposing personal business to many and has risks in itself. Red Cross is charged with assisting in this very scenario not the Salvation Army. The local church or the child's school may be able to supplement for lost items but it is a difficult time of year. Try the local Elks lodge if children involved they have funds to assist in unexpected crises like these. You can make the referral

Also the United Way! In many places they have a direct emergency assistance line like 211 that you can call for help. I'm sorry for your daughter's loss by the way. House fires are awful.
