Hello to everyone,
Is there anyone out there that has information about working at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. I am thinking about relocating and was considering Jackson.
Thanks

I have some friends that work there and say there are pros and cons. Pros: Since it is a teaching hospital, there are a lot of interesting medical cases and opportunities for learning. Also, there are always physicians and residents available. Cons: You have to pay for your garage parking (but you get some sort of discount or something), it is in a SCARY neighborhood, and since it is such a large campus nurses usually have to wait a long time for pharmacy to send meds, etc. These are just a few things I have been told from buddies that work there.
There are a union hospital, I don't know if that is a pro or con for you.
I was a patient there a few times and didn't have positive experiences so in that respect, I wouldn't recommend it.

I work for JHS, eveything the above person said is true. but there is more than just the main campus, there is north and south which both are in safe neighborhoods, and regardles of what you hear on the news, they have been hiring like crazy.... that is if you have experience.
they give you 75 cents an hour for parking and you pay 8 dollars for 12.5 hours, so if you work at main campus you actually make money off the parking , on the other two campuses parking is free.
its a great hospital, i would totally recommend it , i did agency and as a nurse JHS is the BEST system to work for here in SOUTH FLORIDA, GOOD LUCK
Thank you both for your input. A lot of good point to consider. I am still considering it. I hope to be in a hospital in South Fl. by August
