What do you think about this? I applied for a transfer at the hospital I currently work at doing radiology transcription. I am a Registered Nurse working 1 hour away from where I live, and I want to work at this hospital as a NURSE! For the position I applied for, it was listed as full-time, but when I clicked on the position, it was for part-time/prn. I called the recruiter to check on the position.
She told me there were no positions available in my specialty! She said they post positions to "attract" others from different areas and different states!
I questioned her about someone from out-of-state applying for such a position. She said many don't plan to move to the area for at least a year, and sometimes they are able to get a qualified applicant to apply for the position which may "open" up in a year!
Any other hospitals doing this? :angryfire

I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me. The hospital that I work at via agency has listings on the job line a mile long, but am I getting hours?, not very often.

Bait and switch. I would complain loudly to the HR dept and tell them about how you were mislead and do not appreciate it. In writing.

I have found it to be common practice in some facilities to post positions that are already filled. For example, a respirologist has funding for a study that is expected to last two years and hires Nurse Nancy to be his research assistant. The union contract in effect states that temporary positions must be for no more than a year. So Nurse Nancy fills the position, which then must be reposted after a year, but the posting is a ghost posting, since the job is already filled and no one will be more quallified than Nurse Nancy for this particular job. I got caught in that trap more than once before I figured out that Nurse Nancy wasn't moving on, just that her term was up...

YES...this happens at the hospital I work at all the time!
Or, on the other side of the coin...my coworkers and I all complain, LOUDLY and OFTEN, about our serious lack of staff on the med/surg unit I work on...and are told by our boss they are trying everything to get staff in there...and there's no positions even posted!!!! ARGH!!!!!! :angryfire
