Good day to all!!! I passed the nursing licensure exam last June 2009 and until now i dont have any hospital experience yet. I already attended training for BLS, SFA and IVT.
Do you guys know hospitals around Quezon city or Marikina that accept volunteers or trainee for free?!? Cause as of now i dont have the money to pay for hosptal training?!?
Thanks a lot and GodbLess!!!
that's a tall order to follow. realistically speaking. yes we are competent enough, but are we confident enough to do the tasks at hand on a consistent basis. practice makes perfect. since there are less jobs available for us new nurses here, i think boycotting those volunteer spots in hospitals is a waste of time and opportunity to hone our skills. there are a lot of surplus nurses (novice nurses) here in the Philippines. the ratio of nurses and jobs is completely lopsided. the government has done nothing to improve the working conditions and number of jobs not only for us nurses but for other Filipinos (different professions and trades) as well. and for majority of the new nurses like me, time is of the essence. the problem is, "the whole system" here in this country is wrong. i certainly hope and pray that conditions here would change.
what are the requirements that manila east need? thanks
East Avenue Medical Center. We will be having our orientation for the month of April and May on March 8, but I am afraid that slots for June-July volunteers are already filled because there are applicants who are not included on the list.
i passed my requirements in East Ave last january and asked us to go back last feb 24 to see if our names were listed as volunteers and unfortunately i wasn't included in the first batch... it was written their that those who weren't included in the list should go back in april 22 and maybe we would be included in the next batch.
can't do anything but to wait...

According to your board of nursing you're competent enough to practice nursing with pay in the Philippines. You're licensed nurses, if hospitals are willing to accept you as volunteers then they should be able to compensate you for your services. If everyone would boycott the volunteer positions then the hospitals will be forced to hire staff nurses because nobody would be there to work so that way the paid employees can sit on their butts while YOU work your butts off! Force them to hire you as staff nurses, don't make it easier for them to take money from you. You already went through schooling, you've already paid your dues. Good Luck
