I never really have ever done word problems in my life.... So, when I got this question I am clueless, same for the others. So I am scared to death because I know that nursing has alot to do with formulas and solving word problems... It took me an hour to figure out this question. Is it an easy question...The drama club sold 240 tickets to the play. They sold 20 more student tickets than adult tickets. How many of each type of ticket did they sell.Solve plz
danger turtle 12 Posts Nov 16, 2010 The drama club sold 240 tickets to the play. They sold 20 more student tickets than adult tickets. How many of each type of ticket did they sellSince there is just 2 groups 1 of students and 1 of adults divide the total number of tickets by 2 which equals 120. That means 120 student tickets and 120 adult tickets but if they sold more student tickets than adult tickets you need to subtract tickets from the adults and give to the students but the 2 groups must still always equal 240 so if you add five to the students you must take them away from the adults

Everybody has stuff that "clicks" naturally and stuff that doesn't. The poster above you is right but the last sentence was a bit confusing. When you take your 20 from the adults you get 140 student tickets making your final tally 140+100=240. You'll get it - hang in there and don't freak out too soon. :)

Now the students sold 20 more than the adults so play with the numbers. 125 to 115 ( still equals 240) this is 10 more. So now 130 to 110 ( its 20 more and still equals 140).And nursing is not really word problems as much as it is ratios. Find the important numbers and what you need to get the answer. I use the need have vehicle formula.Need = what amount of medicine you needHave = what amount you haveVehicle= how are you giving it: mg, mL etc...So if you need 500 mg of a medicine and you have a 1 gram tablet then you would have:500mg/1g(which converts to 1000mg) x tablet = 0.5 tablets or 500 mg

I believe you said you are still in high school. Have you gone to your guidance counselors for help or possibly to be evaluated for any issues? The resources at your school might be far more valuable than beating yourself up repeatedly on public message boards. The good news is that many people with various learning issues do indeed make it through nursing school. But the ones more likely to make it are the people who sought out and got assistance with their challenges.Good luck!

That's my high school. I learn everything from the Internet and the books no teacher so I I think that's why it's harder but I do have a 3.9gpa
Darkpk55 164 Posts Nov 16, 2010 Couldn't you just doS = student ticketsA = adult ticketsTo get student tickets u have to make this formulaA + 20 = # of student ticketsSo a + 20 + a = 2402a + 20 = 2402a = 220a= 110Adult tickets = 110 110 + 20 = 130 student tickets130 + 110 = 240
