I just needed to vent. So the nursing floor I work we have a new nurse manager. A coworker of mine introduced herself to the new manager and the manager did not want to shake her hand and went on saying "I heard this floor went through with some managers I'm just letting you know I am here to stay!!!" Wow what a start. So now she wants us to have 6 pts plus our patient care techs are going to be laid off so we have to do all total care of 6 pts plus any new admissions we have to accept. I can't wait until the law passes here in Florida about nurse pt ratio of 1:4.

Is your resume up-to-date? If not, start working on it.

Yea she showed you who she is very quickly. MAYBE it won't be as bad as all that, but it sure sounds like it. Update your resume like llg said and start putting feelers out. This could escalate quickly.

New manager is implementing a new nursing care model. The big wigs LOVE her.. and you can bet your sweet patooty she is staying.
I would have been gone yesterday. Are you seriously going to wait until legislation is passed?

I'm having this exact issue on my unit. Our new AN came in and she's an HCAHPS poster-child.

I introduced myself to a nurse manager on her first day, she said "don't expect me to remember your name."
OK then.
