Hoping I didn't ruin my shot

I'm being trained in a new area, and I really want to work there in hopes of tranferring permananly. I don't want to do anything to ruin my chances. Unfortunately, I've got the stomach bug BAD. I had to call out. And it is not looking good for tomorrow, either. I can't help but think I blew it. But no one wants what I've got! The manager was nice about it, but I can't help but think I blew it! I hope I can overcome a callout dring orientation.

Yes you can. No one wants you to be working while sick. Stay home and take care of yourself. If you need to get a note from your doctor. Some employers require this. Feel better soon.

Keep that at home!!! No one wants to catch that from you, so they should understand.

My hospital has a policy that if you have diarrhea, you have wait 48 hours after that last episode before you can return to work.

It sucks to,get sick during orientation, but that happens.

Honestly, it happens more than you think...particularly if you are working in a hospital for the first time or working in a new area. There are all sorts of bugs floating around that you're not used to. When I started working in the ED many years ago, I and a co-worker who started with me both got really sick during orientation. The manager said, "We kind of expect that until your immune system catches up!" Now I think I have a cast-iron immune system. Hope you feel better soon.

showing good judgment by not infecting others. You are supposed to know when you are impaired. You did the right thing
