2015 hopefuls for tradition nursing @ vcu

Published

Hi my name is lois, Im applying to the traditional nursing program at vcu and I am nervous about the whole admission process, mostly because I don't think my grades are good enough to get in and this is the only school I applied to. If anyone has any information on what students VCU lets in that would be much appreciated. And what was your GPA and SAT/ACT scores when applying to VCU? Thanks

Hey, I'm applying to the program too! I'm a first year at VCU- do you go here? I'm also nervous about my gpa- what did you get, if you don't mind sharing? According to the info from the pre-nursing group on blackboard, the average gpa for fall 2014 was 3.82. Specific SAT/ACT scores aren't noted, it just says most accepted students have a score of over 1100(math and reading combined). Good luck!

My GPA is 3.47 and I'm super nervous that's not going to be enough, I've heard the traditional program is really competitive, what is your GPA??

3.6... but something that a lot of accepted students emphasized was a good personal statement and recommendations/references. I know some people have gotten in because of those things. If your ACT/SAT score is fairly high, they could make up for slightly lower gpa, I suppose. Do you currently attend VCU?

No I dont. I'm a transfer student from a community college. I guess the only thing to do now is to wait and see and pray that I get in. I hope you get in too :)

Good luck on your application and current semester!

Hi! I also applied for the 2015 Traditional Nursing Program. I'm super nervous about it too. Have you heard anything back yet?

No I have not, but they did send an email saying that decisions would come out on April 10th. I don't think anyone has received anything, still have about 10 days to go.

Okay thanks! I just wish I knew my chances of getting in.

Well what was your GPA and test scores?? Did you write a good personal statement?? It's nerve wrecking for everyone but you just Absolutely have to believe that you've gotten in and you will.

My GPA is a 3.8. My ACT was a 26. I have my LPN already and I'm taking honors courses at my community college so I'm hoping that helps too. I think my personal statement was fine but I don't know what they'll think of it. Well at least there isn't too much longer to wait!

You really have a good chance of getting in, You're way above average, your GPA is great, and do you mean ACT scores instead of SAT's?? Average ACT is 21. And VCU is A college highly based on academics so if your grades are good and you don't have a perfect statement you still have much of a chance at getting in.
