Home Therapies Dialysis nurse question

Published

Can anyone tell me about home therapies for dialysis? My "take" is its peritoneal dialysis in home..I have an opportunity to interview for this type of position. I have no dialysis experience except some PD experience in the hospital setting. It seems the reviews on dialysis here are either really positive or really negative. I need a FT job - this is a M-F 8-4 with some flexibility on time getting started/stopping. I have no idea what the salary is..it's one of "the" well known dialysis companies and in the south. Advice? Comments?

Specializes in Dialysis (acute & chronic).

Patients can do home hemodialysis too!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Home hemo is the up and coming new "way" to do dialysis - reimbursement is better.

Thanks for the replies...my interview is this a.m. I am hoping this works out..I'm a little concerned because I hear pay isn't too great in dialysis nursing but if its reasonable and I'm offered the job I'm going w/it. Something new for me which is long over due!

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

The pay is not too bad in Dialysis and there are lots of opportunituies for growth within the dialysis community especially as a RN

Had interview - it went well..I am actually more interested and excited about this opportunity than before. Others have/are interviewing for this - decision will be made next week so I have to wait but am keeping my fingers crossed...

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Good luck - let us know how it goes!

Hi I know that you posted your original message a long time ago and I just saw your message now. Did you get that job or get a job in dialysis later?

I am still trying for the home therapies position..am hoping to hear something today..even if I have to drive a few hours from home a few times for a few weeks I am going to try...hoping to hear something today

Yah it seems like it's hard to find a job in dialysis based on what I have read here. Our home dialysis clinic is looking for a RN, but I think they are leaning towards a RN who has dialysis experience. I hope you find something.

Actually, I was offered and accepted the position this morning. Have some training a head of me but it will be nice to be away from the hospital, learning something new and working a consistent schedule!:yeah:

Hi Lucky724,

I noticed that you indeed get the job. Congratulations!

I'm also looking for a dialysis job here in Miami or Broward with Davida.

Can you give me an idea how much the starting salary is? I have 2 years experience as a hospice nurse.

Hope to hear form you soon.
