Hi, I am an RN, BSN who is tired of Telephonic Case Management and want to return to Home Health. I last worked HH in 2011.

I just received a response from a position I applied for on a job board and they are asking me what my desired pay is for: SOC, ROC, Recert, Discharge and SNV w/Sup.

I really don't know where to begin. I saw many old posts on here but most are from the NE or West Coast and many are several years old, so I'm sure they are not relevant. I don't want to list too high and not get a response or too low and screw myself! Thanks in advance for any responses!

My experience has been- 100$ for SOC, ROC, Recert, D/C. And $50 for SNV. Small company, no mileage pay..

My experience in the Phoenix area is SOC 125 ,everything else 45 and 5 for gas money for each visit. The pay at my last agecy was very similarl

In Western Arizona it is 155$ for start of car, 55$ for routine visit, extra for supervisory visit and/or visits with skills and 48 cents a mile.

In central Louisiana our nurses are paid $64.50 for soc/roc/rec/DC on weekdays. Weekend that rate goes up by $5. Routine visits are $33.50 weekday and goes up $5 for weekend visit.... they also get .40/mile

Roughly and regardless of which market, take the average market hourly rate (straight M-F daytime) and multiply X 1.5 for revisit, X 1.75 for discharge from HHS and evals without POC (mid POC), X 2.0 for recert and evals with POC (within 1st 5 days of SOC), X 2.5 for resumption (recert snd resumption used to be flipped but with higher acuities and focus on medication reconciliation, resumptions have become more complex and time consuming), X 3.0 for SOC.

This historically industry standard formula makes for slightly above 5 revisits/day = 8hrs of hourly pay, fair for the HH RN while incentivizing a little higher productivity.

I would love to know more! I live outside of Saint Louis on the Illinois side. I'm originally from Texas and I'm gearing up to move back with my husband in the next 3 years.

Currently I work for a hospital based home health agency. I had 10 years of nursing experience prior to starting. I make $28 an hour. They provide the car, phone, computer I use. I have GREAT benifits. Which for me means that I have a 401K and insurance with the company. My health insurance has a clause where as long as I use facilities within the hospital I don't have to pay any co pays....not for labs, tests, imaging, specialty visits, nothing.

We have a point system and I am suppose to see 6 points a day. Every 75 miles counts as a point. A regular visit is 1 point. Admits are 3 points, ROC are 1.5, recerts 1.5, discharges 1. I am not salaried...if I work 12 hours due to needing to chart I get paid for that.

Do I have any hope of finding an agency similar in Texas?

I work contract for home health agencies in Central Louisiana. I negotiate with each one that wants me to work. I average $90 SOC, $60 ROC/RECERT, $50 for everything else. Some places I get 41cents a mile for milage of a flat fee per visit. I am sure Dallas may pay better rates. I'd start high and let them make a counter offer.

This is an older post so I'm sure your decision has been made. My only comment is to be very careful in terms of judging an agency strictly from the monetary standpoint. I'm certainly not assuming you were doing that, but after my experience, I'll always toss that thought out there for consideration.

I was a highly experienced nurse but green as could be in home health. Was offered and accepted a job with a small agency offering me great pay. Ended up being the worst job of my 36 years in nursing. I have a friend still working there and she tells me in the 5 months I've been gone they've hired numerous RN's and LVN's who end up staying just a short time. Sad. Now I'm going to post something about my wonderful new (lower paying) job! :)
