Home Health Care Pay

Published

I just took a home health job (RN). Does $22.50 per hour sound fair for a nurse with 13 years hospital experience? I did do per visit hh about 10 years ago for about 1 year. I live in rural Texas.

Again, the variable here would be the region you are in. However, where I am from (and no, we do not have a high cost of living etc...) new nurses straight out of school are starting at 20/22 an hour. I'm not sure how pay in scaled in home health, but I'd imagine that with your experience, you are vastly underpaid.

I am an LVN in DFW, Texas. Back in 2006, I was offered $25 hourly to do home health. Most of my LVN peers in this area earn between $25 and $35 per visit.

I work two home care jobs. One I get paid $38/hour, and the other I get paid $32/visit. I think I'm over paid. But that's ok with me.

Every HH nurse I know around my area gets paid per case. Somewhere between $30 to $35 per visit plus something for mileage seems to be the norm.

I'm an LPN in home health and work either hourly shifts (4 hours or more) or visits (considered 1-3 hours). I get $20/hr for per shift and $30/hr per visit. Considering the fact that I'm a new grad, I guess this pay rate is fair.

I personally would not get out of bed for 22.50/hr as I made more as an LPN 10years ago, however, my area tends to pay higher. You have to look at the cost of living in the area you are in and the type of nursing. I think home health tends to pay lower than some other areas.
