History 1311 and 1312

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Has anyone taken History 1311 or 1312 with Dr. ****? He has great reviews, but I keep reading on this site that History is time consuming and difficult but no mention on the teachers names. Any suggestions on who to take and who to stay away from?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, it is impossible to take another class with this one. I wish I could do it in a community college, but I just didn't want to deal with the paperwork of registering with another school, etc. But yes, this class is INSANE!!!

Yea, I did the same thing with my paper. (I hope I get a decent grade) This past test was even worse than the first one. I felt like I wasted time working on my study guide and learning the power points, reading book..I felt like none of that was on the test. I think this time, I would work on my paper first, and then I will study and do the reflections. I wonder if that would make a difference, but it is worth trying. I like you, have spent about 30+ hours/week in this class. I work full time 40+ hours a week and my commute is about 1.5 hrs each way, I honestly feel like I have neglected my family since this class started. All of my weekend and nights are spent working on this class :( Thankfully, we are half way done with this class. (I ll be happy with a C to be honest). I think its awesome that you are almost done with the program!!! You are almost there!!!! :)

And kudos to you for having volunteered for the discussion board leader. I haven't found the time to do so, but It does seem to be very stressful, having to put all posts/suggestions together.

I am being such a slacker! I'm behind on reading and still need to do stuff for Capstone. I am just so burned out. To top it off my coach hasn't graded my paper for the 2nd reaction that I turned in on freaking Friday. What the heck!?

Major kudos to you for doubling with this class. I honestly do not know how you do it. I can barely manage this class alone. We're almost done with this class, literally 2 more weeks to go!!! we can do it. I'm taking History 1312 next. (not looking forward to that, but just want to get it over with). How was Literature? I m taking that one next. I was wondering, and you probably know since you are about to graduate... how does British literature and Research nursing compared to History. Are they much better or pretty much as consuming? also, do you recommend doubling up on the nursing courses? Thanks in advance, i m just trying to plan out the rest of the year:) Anyways, hope your paper is graded by now. I believe our next paper will be about the 2nd book... :(

She did finally grade the paper. So annoying.

British Lit was easy. Just some discussion boards and some essay style stuff. I took research when it was group work and it suckkkked. So time consuming. I know that it is individual now, but I have heard it is still time consuming.

I pretty much have slept about 18 hours the last 4 days trying to catch up on everything. I wrote the Reaction 3 paper last night and it's a serious piece of work. lol I don't do well with the persona thing and pretending to be someone else. I can't wait to be finished!

Wow yea i dont understand the insane amount of material for this class. It is honestly ridiculous! But is not the professors fault but whomever designed the layout of the class. just finished the reaction paper. Thank God! Thankfully now just the test and 2 more weeks to go!!!!! Counting the days!!! I have read that the British lit class has timed essay tests. Is that true? If that is the case i rather do world literature, i dont think i will do good in timed essay tests. Also, what are your suggestions in regards to electives? Legacy of the family or med terminology? I have read threads about them but i would like to get your opinion. Wow, 2 more weeks for you and your finally done with the program!!! Very happy for you!!! Would you be walking on stage for your diploma?

I am so burned out, I am behind on reading again. lol We are so close, though!

British Lit did have a couple of timed essays. However, the essays were easy and the time was very generous. British Lit was a bit more time consuming than I thought it would be, but I rather enjoyed it. I am partial to literature classes and would take them all if they would let me (and if I could afford it). I have heard American Lit is a little more manageable (and that you read A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is one of my favorite books, ever).

Regarding the electives...are you working currently? If so, take Cooperative Work Experience. It was insanely easy. I have heard Legacy is brutal. Med Term was pretty awful. The material wasn't hard, but the timed tests were terrible. You get 30 minutes to answer 50 questions, can't go back to change answers, and the tests are only open for a 24 hour window. I hated that class. I would ask your advisor if you can take both work experience classes if you need two electives.

I live in California but I am going to Texas for graduation next week. My aunt lives in Dallas so it will be a combined trip of visiting her and attending commencement. I have never participated in a commencement ceremony (graduated high school early through independent study because I was knocked up) so I am really excited about it. Also, I am the first on my mother's side of the family to obtain a degree higher than an associates. Only two people on my father's side have obtained a Bachelor's degree. I will be the third.

I couldn't find American Literature offered this year. I ended up signing up for World Literature instead. I know you mentioned that the timed essays are easy, but honestly I don't like the idea of them. I hope I don't make a mistake by choosing World over British. I work 40+ hours + a 2 hour commute. Work Mon-Friday. I have a National certification that I got credit for as one of my electives. I will definitely stay away from Legacy and Med. Terminology and will sign up for the cooperative work class. (thanks for the tip) :) I m with you and completely burned out!!!!!!!!!! I am just happy that it will be over in 2 weeks!!! Cant wait!!!

Congratulations on your accomplishment!!! I think that it is great that you are flying down from California for the ceremony. You deserve to walk on stage to receive your degree. I bet your family is very proud of you! :) CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well deserved!!! :) Its taking me a while for me to get mine as well.. I started as an LVN. Worked as an LVN for 6 years before I decided to go back to school for my ADN. I have been working as a Registered Nurse for 7 years, and finally working on my Bachelors. I should be done next Spring (taking one class at a time). Counting the months to graduate! :)

I hated it. Thought they asked for way too much with all the writing. And 18 modules? Avoid taking this class here!!! Oh, and when did I become a history major?

I'm terrified to take those history classes...they will probably delay my BSN graduation, but heck no! If its the same instructor that teaches Texas Politics, I'm OUT!

Apply to a community College as a transient and take them there! I actually did that for Sociology. I would have done that for HIST but there wasn't any online option available this summer. So I had to bite the bullet. Good luck!

Oh, I get it about the Polysci Texas....
