Has anyone taken History 1311 or 1312 with Dr. ****? He has great reviews, but I keep reading on this site that History is time consuming and difficult but no mention on the teachers names. Any suggestions on who to take and who to stay away from?
Thanks in advance,
Aw that is awesome!!! :) so good to hear he will allow you to complete them! I think the second week and so on would get better and better, as we are starting to get the hang of it and we are now aware of how much time we need to complete each assignment. By the way, are you doing History 1312 right after this? or are you giving your self a break from this format and taking something else? how much more do you got to finish the program?
Same here! the 60 questions & 60 minutes time limit killed me!!! I felt like I rushed through the test thinking I would run out of time. I agree that the study guide didn't help. I thought that we covered so much material and the topics that I thought were relevant were not on the test, yet there were questions on the test..that I thought...really? why is this even here? I as well didn't do as I expected to do. it was disappointing actually. I have heard that the tests get harder, particularly the last test I heard is brutal. All we can do is keep trying and hopefully the next 6 weeks go by fast.
For this week, i m happy that there aren't as many subtopics as they were last week, so it seems that it may be less material... not that many videos either. So that is good :)
Holy cow there is a lot of reading this week. Something like 90 pages in the textbook and then that Seven Years' War book (the whole thing! Like 170 pages!). Is it just me or should he have told us two weeks ago that he wanted us to read the whole stupid book? I am so mad about this. I spent hours today just doing the reading for the first of the topics. This class has turned into a full time job. I can't wait for the survey at the end. lol
This is crazy!!! This class truly feel like a full time job!!!! the amount of material is truly overwhelming. They need to get rid of the papers. To write a 2-3 page paper on a 170 page book along with all the discussion assignments, videos, extra links, articles, book chapters, reflections etc..it is truly insane!!!
I will definitely include my thoughts in the survey at the end, but I wonder if it would make a difference, as it seems that for several years students have been complaining about this class and the format remains the same!!! it is really frustrating!!!

I'm really going to have to pull this paper out of thin air. I spent all last week doing the readings and reflections so I have all week to write it, but capstone started last week so I will be dealing with that as well (which actually, the class seems to be quite easy so at least there is that). I finished the stupid 170 page book today. I don't remember any of it. lol The group discussion thing stresses me out, especially since I was leader last week so I can't do it again. I am a control freak and like things to be planned out and done on time. I took a ton of notes on the text book and lectures, but they probably won't even help because the tests are ridiculous. I have no choice but to continue with the class because I graduate in May (THANK GOODNESS).
I easily spent 30+ hours on this class over the last 7 days. It's just not okay.

Phew, he said he is being lenient with due dates because of the layout of the course, so I can complete the reflections still. I was having a mild panic attack.
