For anyone who's been through A&P1 , my professor is'nt being very upfront about what she wan'ts us to know for the histology lab practical. Did you look at slides under the microscope, or just pictures of certain tissue types? Did the teacher want you to name where in the body to find these tissues? was yours timed? Guess I'm just trying to focus, and I like to give myself tests to practice and I need a format. Thanx guys!

We had to identify pictures of tissues, many were exactly like the one's in the labmanual, we had to study a CD with tissue pictures in th ecomputer lab and he showed us slides that resembled the pics on the CD. The lab test also included general tissue questions. Stuff from lecture etc. It was like better know it all, I quickly learned to study every last little detail with my instructor.
Sorry forgot to mention but we were not timed, and we had to know where certain tissues were found in the body.

We had to look at tissues under a microscope, and name parts of the microscope for our histology practicle. You had to be able to recognize the tissue and name either the name, the part of the tissue or cell, where it is located and functions. I actually thought the histology was the easiest one.

In my A&P 1 lab, we did look at slides under the microscope, named the types of tissues we were looking at and some of the questions were about where to find these in the body. Remeber, it depends on how thorough your prof wants to be. Just stick with it. Do you have "free lab" in your school? Meaning, does your class a room that is open and set up for A&P students to practice? We did and it was very helpful. Good luck.
We have a Biology study center with videos, computer programs, skeletons, muscle men, models of all kinds of stuff etc. I did alot of independent work and research and spent a great deal of time at that place. It paid off, I made an A with what I thought an impossible teacher who wasn't very clear about too many things.

Ours were all under the microscope. For the organs we had to look at the slide, tell which organ the tissue was from and if it secreted anything, ex.the adrenal glands, we had to tell what they secreted. We did not have to name parts of the microscope like others, that was covered in microbiology.
My class was an anatomy course, so of course there was no questions regarding function, this was covered in physio, so if you are taking one of those combined course you may consider a function question being included.
I spend a lot of time out of class looking at slides in a seperate room next to the lab room and in a histology book when I was at home.

We had tissues under a microscope. We weren't allowed to touch the microscope for the practical but make sure you study kep areas so that you can identify them and know exactly what you are looking at. Our slides were deceiving and tricky (some looked sooo much alike)
Good luck
