Hiring process- is this how it usually works?

So I applied to for a graduate nurse position in the area I'm moving to after graduation (we are moving from Illinois to Texas). The nurse recruiter called me and wanted to know which department I was interested in. I told her and she said "Great! That was all I needed, I'll forward your application to the director and let you know when I hear something."

I thought the HR nurse recruiter would be doing initial interviews, then if I "passed", she would forward my resume to the director.

How does the process usually go? Is this typical? I'd like to think that its a good thing that she forwarded my application, but maybe they forward all applications to the appropriate directors upon receipt. Any input would be great!

This is a great question! I've been curious about how the whole hiring process works as well. I assume it varies by hospital but I'm looking forward to seeing the responses!

This is my experience in interviewing for GN positions. Graduate in May 2008

The first interview had a phone interview with HR, then they forward the information to the nurse manager, then the nurse manager called me for an interview.

The second interview the HR recruiter called and told me what time to come to the interview and to come to HR, HR did not interview me but walk me over to the nurse manager for the interview.

The third interview was the same as the second

The fourth interview, I had a 5 minute interview with HR, then she walked me over to the nurse manager for an interview

4 different hospital three different techniques so I guess it depends on the hospital. By the way I got job offers from the three without the telephone interview. HR did call me back to offer the position.

Hope this helps

Like the previous poster said it depends on the facility. I sent my application in online in January since I graduated in March. Didn't hear anything until the end of February (honestly I forgot all about it since I was told that they usually don't start hiring new grads until April/May). Was told that I had an interview with a NM on such and such floor what time could I be their.

Show up, have my interview with the NM, get job offer, back to HR to fill out paperwork and start on Monday as a PCT until I get GPN status then I'll be on the floor as a nurse.

Never spoke with anyone in HR about the position other than filling out the paperwork and giving them my pre employment physical.
