Hi can someone please help me?!?! I had an interview with the nurse recruiter and nurse manager last wednesday at North Shore University Hospital - Manhasset. I just want to know how long do they take before they get back to you.. will they call me even if they're not hiring me? As far as I know and feel, the interview went well and the nurse manager told me that she wants the positions filled fairly quick... will they even call me to say im not hired..? I'm a new grad nurse.. and this was my first hospital interview.. so im definitely clueless...

Did you send a thank you note the next day after the interview to them both? If you haven't, I would consider doing that as soon as possible. It puts your interview back in their minds. You can also do a follow up call and let them know you are still interested. Did the manager give you a phone number to call her at? Did they offer you to shadow or did you ask if you could shadow? Usually, the waiting process can take a couple of weeks due to outside companies doing background checks, calling references, etc. Many facilities will send an email if they are not interested in you and they will call if they are and tell you what the next steps are.

Generally speaking, HR & Nurse Recruiters are your best friend when it comes to the hiring process (in any job). Give them a call and see what they normally do; they shouldn't have a problem giving you an aprox timeline and how they will notify you. I always ask during my final interview when a decision will be made and have never had issue..
Good luck!
NurseyNurseKRN,
I sent a thank you note but not within 24 hrs of the interview.. (im new to all of this) but i sent one nevertheless.. Both the nurse manager and recruiter gave me their business cards.. The nurse manager gave me specifics about the position.. how long the orientation will be.. and she said i will follow a preceptor for a while. Since I have an ASN.. they both said that they expect me to start my BSN within 2 yrs of employment and finish within 5 yrs of employment.. im just confused with all these info they gave me.. so should i just assume that until they call me and tell me they're hiring me that they do not want me?

Thanks.. I will call the nurse manager then.. she definitely told me to call her if i have any questions regarding the position..
It sounds as though they gave you a lot of specific information to the position. I would do a follow up call and ask what the next steps are. If you do not hear anything back I would assume they are running background checks and calling your references until you hear otherwise. I hope it works out for you!

Did you apply for a fellowship type position at NS? I had a 3 interviews for a fellowship position at LIJ and my last interview was this past thursday and the clinical educator told me at the interview to either wait for a phone call or an e-mail for the "next steps" I'm not sure what that means or how long I would have to wait for this but im getting anxious and desperate!!! The fellowship is supposed to start in 2 weeks so my hopes are starting to sink Let me know when you find out!! and how they took to let you know!!

Hi, I was wondering if any one has heard back from the nurse recruiter yet?
