Davey, I am hesitant about telling you this, but Shakira has a song named "Hips Don't Lie". I looked it up and after I read the lyrics, I said, "Hmmm." Of course the video is a bit more than suggestive than this thread is. The one line in there that I found funny is, "You make a man feel like speaking Spanish..."

(?--AY-YI-YI--?)

But, personally I'd just as soon ignore Shakira's song's lyrics and continue with clever and creative ideas, not the obvious ones.

I'll have to look up The Furry Freak Brothers, because the name only rings a tiny little bell in the back of my brain....

Yeah, I recognize the cartoon ... specifically the hair-do's... but I don't remember reading them.

PS: Welcome aboard, abbnurse! The more the merrier!

Thank you , No Stars !  I am a long time lurker in the Daily Diary thread, and I very much enjoy your posts - especially the Nannie stories !

I remember when "hip" comics were the ones (can't remember the artist's name) where the guy was taking long strides while leaning backwards, it was titled "KEEP ON TRUCKIN'."

I remember them as well Stars, they made it over the Atlantic to us.

Ah, yes , I remember R Crumb !     Does anyone remember The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics ?     ( Hilarious, but not R Crumb's creation .)

Another set of comics that made it over the water. Difficult to get hold of but I saw a few of them.

Oooooohhh! That one's a bit creepy in this day and age of political correctness. Don't worry, I love it.

I got the pound thing from the first Austin Powers movie, where he said, after being frozen for something like 30years, "... as long as people are having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection all the while experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence free environment, I'll be sound as a pound".

I appreciate both you and No Stars commenting on the "smoking hot body" thing. When I barrowed the concept for the cartoon, I didn't even consider the probability the comment was in poor taste.

I've been spending the majority of my online time on artist's websites that rarely censor. There, one can use the F- word without it being censored, so I may be a little less impervious to big deal shocks like not being PC.

Thanks for your continued involvement and support, Grumpy. And please feel free to critique any of my work, for feedback is a great way of gaining a different perspective.

And then there's a song by The Swinging Bluejeans, from the late 60's I think:

"I Got the Hippy Hippy Shakes" ....("I can't stand still; I've got the hippy hippy shakes." )

Look the lyrics up with the song title; maybe there is something there that might spark a cartoon? Anyway, Davey, that's your bone for today. ?

Thank you, No Stars.

Maybe I could do something like, "The Parkinsonian Polka"!

Great song, No Stars !   I love the cover versions by The Beatles and The Georgia Satellites .  Davey, would love to see " The Parkinsonian Polka " ?

Back in the late 1970's when I was a teenager,  you could purchase those type of "underground" comics , High Times magazine, smoking accessories, rock band t-shirts,  etc. , in stores that were called " head shops" .  Not sure if that was a regional expression, but  here in the Midwestern U.S., we had lots of groovy head shops.  ✌️   I suppose those types of shops have been replaced by the " vape shops" that seem to be on every corner in the city nowadays.
