Hello all,
I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

I think the Health Science Dept. is updating documents according to the date the application was received. My high school and college transcripts haven't shown up yet even though they have had them over 4 years! Before I submitted my app the adviser called the nursing dept. to ask if high school transcripts were needed. They said they already had them from 2008. Nothing has been transferred and evaluated yet, but they returned my sealed transcripts from 2 colleges attended in 85-86 and 88-91. They even returned their own HCC transcript! Boy, did that freak me out when I received the package! I thought they rejected my application.
Good luck to Rachanee on the birth of her baby! May you have a quick and safe delivery!
Did anyone else buy the calculations book or the Fundamentals of Nursing? Amazon had them in great condition under $10 with shipping. As I read up on those books, I also need to review A & P.
Hope you all had a Happy 4th!!!

I believe I want to wait for an acceptance letter before buying any Nursing books. But I still have my A&P book so I will check that out at some point before January.
Does anyone know if there's a way to insert a poll in this thread as a comment? I know you can make one when you first start a thread but can't seem to see if you can insert one in after that. Would like to insert one to get a running tally of sorts of who has applied for Days, Afternoons, and Nights, respectively, as opposed to just glancing at all prior comments and making a wild guess.
All 6 documents now say "received" for me. I dropped off my application back in April. It's satisfying to see some change on WebAdvisor though, nothing had been update since 4/20 for me.
Gradius- I'm not sure if you're able to create polls here. You can always do one through Google and link it here.
Has the course SLS-1501 showed up for anyone else under "Planned Courses"...I've never registered for this course but it showed up the day my app showed up as received under My Documents. The way to check is to go to Web Advisor then select "Plan Courses" under "Academic Planning" then click "View Worksheet" and select "A.S. - Applicant / A.D.N. Basic........Catalog: 2011/12 Academic Year" and click OK and it should show up there.
Just curious if this showed up for anyone else and if it has anything to do with the RN program.
GRADIUS- I think the poll is an awesome idea, with you being an IT whiz, I'm hoping you can figure out how to add one to our little thread =D

Rachanee-- since you started this thread is the option available for you to add a poll if you edit your first post? I know when I made another post here on AN elsewhere a month or so back I was able to add a poll in initially, perhaps if you can edit and insert one on Page 1 that would be easiest, versus me posting it here and having it get lost on page 21 or so once this thread gets to page 30+.
If not, the next best thing I'm thinking is me making a separate thread here on AN and devoting it just to the poll alone?

I apparently have that SLS College Success course too and my initial reaction is "what the hell?" This sounds like a course designed for 18 year old Freshmen; besides, I'm 30 with a BA already + 2 A.S.'s with a 3rd on the way so I think I know how to do college just fine, thanks.
Alas though, KKJA8855, this may be an Orientation question if not sooner?

Good luck with the baby. That was nice of them to change it for you. Let the waiting begin....
