Hillsborough Community College Spring 2016 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone!

I know it's a little early, but is anyone out there applying to HCC's Nursing program starting Spring 2016? I am, and I'm dying for this semester to be over so I can submit my app! Just wanted to start the discussion since no one else has!

Hey everyone!!

I've been snooping on allnurses.com for a few months now and I FINALLY made a username so I could comment. :)

I'm applying for the Spring 2016 RN Program as well at HCC. I just finished Microbiology this spring and my GPA for prerequisite courses is 3.53... not as good as I'd like it to be but it'll have to do. I just bought a practice test book for the TEAS and will be taking it May 26th. I'm super nervous!

I honestly thought I had NO shot of getting into HCC's nursing program, so I met with someone at Keiser this morning. The tuition for EACH semester (4 total) is $8,000. NO WAY! That's going to be my last resort but that's crazy. After reading a few forums on here and seeing that people got in with a GPA not much higher than mine, I decided to go ahead and apply. It can't hurt.

I'm so happy to hear from others who are in the same boat as me! Do you all know how long it takes to get acceptance letters??

Are you all applying to other schools? I was looking at Pasco-Hernando State College but it's so FAR.

Hi! Good luck on your TEAS exam! The application says 12-15 weeks from the application deadline. According to past Spring threads, they received their letters in September. I am only applying to HCC, as I need a night/weekend program...but Pasco Hernando is actually much closer to me. They may be my back up if I dont get in here..I'll just have to get a whole new job 😕. Anyway, good luck with everything!

I think you're the girl I was talking to in my Micro class (based on what your post said). How did you end up doing on that test?? I'm sure you did great. :)

Yes!! I think so? Lol I ended up making a 100 on the micro lab test, and a 104 on the Micro lecture final! How did you do? Oh and for the Teas test I would recommend studying the English, math and reading portions. The science portion is really hard. If you brush up on the other 3 you should be fine! Good luck to you :)

I am only applying to HCC as of right now. I still haven't decided yet if I will apply to others. I am super excited (can't forget nervous as well) to turn in my application. I hope we all get in! The wait is going to drive me insane. Lol

That's awesome!! I made a 100 on the lab final and a 75 on the lecture test. I actually took his final and it was brutal. He used nothing from test #1 and test #2. But I ended up with a B in the class. Okay cool, thanks for the advice :) I'm bad at Language so I'm glad I bought the study guide book. I'm hoping if I study for the next 2 weeks that I can get at least a 75.

I know I am with you. I'm nervous too! I hope we all get in :) It'd be nice to have someone to talk to at orientation. I feel like these next few months are going to go slooow haha.

Hey, all you need is a 60.. If you can get a 75 that's awesome. I was thrilled to get above a 60 lol. That test was really hard! But yeah, I would study that portion and take some practice test. That really helped me. BTW... You can use a calculator on the test for math, so brush up on percentages lol

I agree! What campus are you trying to go to?

I think with my GPA I'd feel better if my TEAS test was high. But yeah I'm sure I'll be lucky to even pass haha.

I'm hoping for Dale Mabry days. How about you?

Hey your higher than me lol but it honestly doesn't matter to me. But if I had to prefer one over the other I would prefer dale mabry days!

Same here! I'm not picky though.

Does anyone know how close to June 1st we can take the TEAS? I was looking at the Thursday before but thinking that might be too close.

When I took the teas yesterday I saw a calendar in the office and I think the last date to take the test was like may 31st. But I'm not exactly sure.
